[Edaily Reporter Kim Seung-kwon ] JWPHARMACEUTICAL(001060)continued to post double-digit revenue growth on a cumulative basis through the third quarter of this year, driven by growth in its original prescription drug portfolio. However, standalone profitability in the third quarter declined due to increased investment in research and development (R&D).

JWPHARMACEUTICAL announced on the 4th that it recorded consolidated revenue of 629.9 billion won and operating profit of 94.6 billion won for the first three quarters of this year. These figures represent year-over-year increases of 10.2% and 17.3%, respectively.

Third-quarter revenue stood at 211.1 billion won, a 6.3% increase from the same period last year. In contrast, operating profit fell 10.7% to 29.1 billion won. The company attributed this decline to factors such as increased R&D expenses. Net income totaled 19.8 billion won.

Specialty pharmaceuticals (ETC) drove this growth. Third-quarter ETC revenue reached 176.1 billion won, a 5.8% increase compared to the same period last year (166.5 billion won). “LivaroJet,” a treatment for dyslipidemia, grew by 16.6% to 30.9 billion won, leading the performance. Total sales for the “Livaro Family”—including Livaro, LivaroJet, Livaro V, Livaro Hi, and Livaro Peno—rose 9.6% to 53.1 billion won.

Sales in the intravenous solutions segment rose 4.1% to 73.5 billion won. The “Winnerf” line of comprehensive nutritional intravenous solutions recorded 23.1 billion won, basic intravenous solutions recorded 21.7 billion won, and the “Encover” enteral nutrition solution recorded 12.3 billion won.

Third-quarter sales in the over-the-counter (OTC) segment reached 15.7 billion won, an 18.0% increase compared to the same period last year (13.3 billion won). The artificial tears brand “Friends” contributed significantly, growing 60.0% to 7.2 billion won.

A JWPHARMACEUTICAL official stated, “We are maintaining a stable revenue stream as the growth momentum of our original prescription drugs continues,” adding, “We will continue to invest in research and development to secure future growth engines while strengthening the competitiveness of our core products to solidify our foundation for mid- to long-term growth.”
