[Edaily Reporter KIM EUNG-TAE ] Human resources (HR) platform company Saramin(143240)announced on the 4th that it will acquire a 12.9% stake in JoongAng Ilbo. Saramin will acquire 14,287,991 shares of JoongAng Ilbo. The acquisition amount totals 71.4 billion won, which represents 26.76% of its equity. The acquisition will be made through the purchase of new shares resulting from participation in a third-party private placement. The scheduled acquisition date is December 23. The company explained that the purpose of the acquisition is “business diversification and the creation of synergies.” Saramin is an AI-based HR tech company that develops recruitment solutions incorporating AI technology. Recently, it has been diversifying its business into non-recruitment areas and attempting to expand into a lifestyle platform.
