[Edaily Reporter Park Jeong-soo] #MDS Tech, a company specializing in AI embedded solutions, announced on the 9th that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Polaris AI to conduct business demonstrations based on AI robots and Physical AI.
Through this agreement, the two companies plan to utilize data generated in manufacturing sites to enhance robot training and operational environments and to validate automation models applicable to actual industrial settings.
Under the agreement, Polaris AI will provide the UBTech robot platform and robot control and operation technologies. MDS Tech will support a testing environment for manufacturing and logistics sites based on sensing camera modules, as well as factory infrastructure.
Leveraging its accumulated expertise in AI and embedded technologies, as well as its manufacturing site infrastructure, MDS Tech plans to build an AI robot demonstration environment and support clients’ adoption of Physical AI by utilizing NVIDIA-based AI platforms and edge AI solutions.
The company is particularly focusing on small and medium-sized manufacturing firms, aiming to automate repetitive tasks in production processes and logistics environments and improve operational efficiency. It also aims to develop on-site automation models that even small and medium-sized manufacturers struggling with AI adoption can implement relatively easily.
The two companies also plan to jointly explore business opportunities for AI edge solutions with enhanced security, targeting industrial sites, public institutions, and the smart factory market. They will also pursue technical cooperation to advance the security of edge AI-based industrial safety, robotics, and video surveillance solutions, as well as to develop new services.
An MDS Tech representative stated, “This agreement is a collaboration aimed at expanding the physical AI ecosystem that connects AI software with actual industrial sites,” adding, “Based on our manufacturing and logistics site infrastructure and NVIDIA-based AI platform capabilities, we plan to support customers in applying AI robots and edge AI technologies to their sites more quickly.”
Meanwhile, as a domestic partner of NVIDIA, MDS Tech supplies AI computing solutions such as NVIDIA DGX, Jetson, RTX, and data center GPUs. Recently, the company has been expanding its AI infrastructure business, focusing on generative AI, edge AI, digital twins, and robotics.
Additionally, in April, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Seoul National University’s Robotics Research Institute and Department of Mechanical Engineering to foster talent in the field of physical AI and build a research ecosystem, and is also providing support for education and research based on NVIDIA Jetson. Recently, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, visited the Seoul National University Robotics Research Institute.
