[Edaily Reporter Lee Hye-ra] Precision metal manufacturing company #Global SM announced on the 12th that it is pursuing a large-scale expansion of production facilities as orders in the smartphone and electric vehicle sectors from its Vietnam subsidiary are rapidly increasing.

This move is a proactive response to the Vietnam subsidiary’s first-quarter sales, which grew by more than 30% year-over-year.
Global SM’s Vietnam subsidiary has established itself as a key production hub, supplying fasteners to major domestic and international smartphone manufacturers and electric vehicle-related companies. Following last year’s revenue of $21 million, the subsidiary aims to reach $24 million this year.
As global manufacturers accelerate the restructuring of their supply chains away from China due to the U.S. tightening of tariff policies, Vietnam is emerging as a key alternative production base, leading to a rapid increase in orders flowing into Global SM’s Vietnam subsidiary. The company possesses a vertically integrated structure capable of handling the entire production process—from raw material intake to heading, pre-treatment, heat treatment, and plating—giving it a distinct competitive edge in terms of cost efficiency.
In particular, its collaboration with VinFast, a local Vietnamese automaker, is drawing attention. VinFast is a leading Vietnamese manufacturer of electric vehicles and home appliances and is currently in the process of localizing its operations by replacing existing Chinese-made parts with locally sourced components. Global SM has secured a leading position in supplying fasteners to VinFast during this transition and is considering expanding its business beyond simple component supply to include module-level supply.
A Global SM official stated, “Amid the U.S.-China trade dispute and the resulting restructuring of global supply chains, orders for our Vietnam subsidiary are growing rapidly.” The official added, “We will actively respond to the increasing order volume by expanding production facilities and accelerate the growth of our Vietnam subsidiary with the goal of achieving our annual sales target.”
