IL Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ESTec Corporation on Physical AI

[Edaily Reporter KIM JI-WAN ] IL SCIENCE CO.,LTD.(307180)announced on the 26th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ESTec Corporation, a leading domestic comprehensive security and facility management company, to jointly enter the Physical AI-based security and facility management market.

ESTec Corporation, a leading comprehensive security solutions provider in Korea that recorded consolidated revenue of 9752억 won and operating profit of 288억 won last year, is currently pursuing an initial public offering (IPO). The company operates nationwide business infrastructure covering not only integrated security but also facility management (FM), parking management, disease prevention and pest control, and environmental management, and employs approximately 20,000 people, including its affiliates.

Through this agreement, the two companies plan to jointly develop next-generation integrated security and facility management services utilizing IL’s humanoid robot, the “ILbot H2,” and its autonomous quadruped robot, the “ILbot L1 Max.”

The ILBot H2 performs people-centric tasks such as customer service, guidance, patrols, and facility inspections, while the ILBot L1 Max handles autonomous patrols and anomaly detection at power plants, data centers, industrial plants, logistics centers, and large buildings.

In particular, the two companies plan to collaborate on transitioning existing labor-intensive security and facility management systems to a physical AI-based integrated operation system.

They will establish an operational model in which robots perform tasks such as repetitive patrols, facility inspections, and anomaly detection, while ESTec Corporation’s specialized on-site personnel immediately intervene and respond in the event of an incident. Furthermore, they plan to continuously enhance AI performance and on-site operational efficiency by leveraging the operational data accumulated during this process.

IL expects this collaboration to provide access to large-scale operational data generated in real-world industrial settings. The company plans to use this data to enhance its Physical AI robot operating platform and to lay the groundwork for future expansion of its RaaS (Robot as a Service) business.

Recently, the global robotics industry has been rapidly shifting beyond simple hardware competition toward Physical AI, which learns based on actual operational data. In particular, the security and facility management sectors are considered ideal markets for the commercialization of Physical AI, as they involve a high proportion of repetitive tasks and make it easy to collect operational data.

An IL official stated, “This collaboration is more than just a simple robot supply; it is a crucial starting point for transforming South Korea’s largest security and facility management market into a physical AI-based system,” adding, “We will establish an optimal operational system that combines humanoid and quadruped robots, and based on the data accumulated through this, we aim to grow into South Korea’s leading physical AI operational data platform company.”

The representative continued, “The security and facility management sector is one of the markets where humanoid robots are likely to be commercialized most rapidly in the future,” adding, “Starting with this collaboration with ESTec Corporation, we plan to actively expand the potential applications of physical AI robots in the domestic market and continuously explore various avenues for cooperation.”
