KTCorporation Combines 5G and LTE Plans into One… Streamlining from Over 100 to 18 Plans

Restructuring of the ‘Choice·Basic’ Lineup Significant Expansion of Data Sharing and Utilization Quality of Service (QoS) Applied to All Sections of Data “Resolving the Inconvenience of Service Cutoffs When Data Is Exhausted”

[Edaily Reporter Yun Junghoon ]KTCorporation(030200)is set to launch an “integrated rate plan” that consolidates its previously complex two-tiered pricing structure—which was divided between 5G and LTE—into a single plan. The strategy aims to significantly improve consumer convenience by boldly eliminating the complex pricing structure and to substantially reduce the burden of household communication expenses by adding benefits tailored to different demographics.

KTCorporation announced on the 1st that it has launched its “Integrated Rate Plan,” which drastically streamlines its existing lineup of over 100 plans down to just 18.

The core of this overhaul is “simplifying rate plans” and “automating benefits.” Instead of offering a multitude of complex options, KTCorporation has increased data allowances and introduced a “bonus” structure where age-specific benefits are automatically applied. Additionally, to prevent potential cost burdens or service interruptions when data runs out, the “Data Peace of Mind Option (QoS)” has been included as a standard feature across all rate plans.

Unlimited “Choice” vs. Value-Oriented “Basic”… Maximizing Data Utilization

The new integrated rate plans have been reorganized into two lineups—“Choice” and “Basic”—tailored to customers’ data usage patterns.

The “Choice” plans (premium tier) are based on completely unlimited data and are tailored for customers who heavily use content and smart devices. In particular, the plans focus on expanding shared data allowances to increase the utilization of secondary devices. “Choice 110” has expanded shared data to 80GB, “Choice 90” to 60GB, and “Choice 130” offers discounts on smart device plans for up to two lines. Additionally, media and care benefits have been enhanced, including “Choice Double,” which simultaneously provides a Disney+ Standard subscription and device insurance discounts.

The Basic Plan (Value-Oriented) is designed for users who prioritize data usage and seek cost-effective solutions. The company took a proactive step by completely removing the shared data limits that had previously applied to some plans, allowing users to freely share their personal data with their smart devices.

“No More Worries About Losing Data Connectivity”… QoS Introduced Across All Tiers

This overhaul is expected to shatter the conventional wisdom that “once you use up your data, your service gets cut off or you’re hit with additional charges.” KTCorporation has established a seamless mobile environment by introducing Quality of Service (QoS) across all integrated rate plan tiers.

The speed provided after the basic data allowance is exhausted varies by plan. △ The Basic 110GB plan offers up to 5 Mbps △ Plans of 14GB or more under the Basic tier offer 1 Mbps △ Plans of 10GB or less under the Basic tier offer 400 Kbps, allowing users to browse the web or use messaging apps without restrictions.

Also noteworthy are the age-based “bonus benefits,” where users automatically receive perks simply by meeting the age requirement, without any complicated sign-up procedures. Users are categorized into youth (Y-Bonus), children (School-Bonus), and seniors (65+ Bonus and 75+ Bonus), and their data allowances are automatically increased accordingly.

In particular, support measures for military personnel—who frequently use their smartphones after work—have been significantly strengthened. In addition to the “Y-Bonus (double data)” benefit during their service, they receive an extra 2GB of data daily if they subscribe to a plan costing 45,000 won or more per month. Even if they use up all their daily data allowance, they can continue using the service at a speed of 3 Mbps, enabling seamless communication even in remote areas within military bases. Military personnel are also expected to see a significant reduction in their perceived costs thanks to an additional 20% monthly bundle discount.

Meanwhile, with the launch of this integrated rate plan, new sign-ups for existing 5G and LTE plans will be suspended starting July 1. Existing subscribers can keep their current plans without any changes. To celebrate the launch, KTCorporation is holding a quiz event for all mobile customers, offering prizes such as Mega Coffee, Naver Pay points, and Shinsegae Co.,Ltd gift certificates.

Kim Young-geol, Executive Vice President and Head of KTCorporation’s Customer Business Division, said, “The integrated rate plan was designed to simplify customer choices and maximize the benefits they experience,” adding, “We will continue to expand personalized benefits tailored to customers’ usage patterns and life stages.”
