[Edaily Reporter SIN SOO-JUNG ] CJ CheilJedang Corp(097950)is reorganizing its existing business structure—which has focused on food and biotechnology—into three divisions: lifestyle foods, technology materials, and core materials. This move aims to strengthen the strategies and profitability of each business by separating the global K-food growth segment from the high-value-added materials business. CJ CheilJedang Corp. announced on the 1st that it will carry out a business division rebalancing. The company will shift its existing business structure—which was divided into food and biotech—to three main pillars: lifestyle foods, technology materials, and core materials, while divesting businesses with low growth potential and profitability.
The Lifestyle Foods division will oversee the global K-food business, centered on the Bibigo brand. It will continue to target overseas markets with a focus on global strategic products such as dumplings, chicken, processed rice, sauces, and kimchi.
The Technology Materials Division will handle high-value-added materials businesses. Key areas include nucleic acids, the natural flavor ingredient “Taste & Rich,” and the biodegradable material PHA. CJ CheilJedang Corp plans to expand its materials solutions business tailored to customer needs by leveraging its R&D capabilities.
The Core Materials Business Division is responsible for feed-grade amino acids such as lysine and tryptophan, as well as raw materials including sugar, flour, cooking oil, oligosaccharides, premixes, and allulose. It will focus on securing a stable revenue base through synergies among these raw materials.
New heads have also been appointed for each division. Gregory Yeb will lead the Lifestyle Foods Division. Mr. Yeb has held positions in research and development and business innovation at global food and nutrition companies and has served as head of CJ CheilJedang Corp.’s Food Division since last year.
Yoon Seok-hwan, CEO of CJ CheilJedang Corp, will concurrently serve as head of the Technology Materials Business Division. Kim Chan-ho, head of the Strategic Support Division, will also take charge of the Core Materials Business Division. Since assuming the role of CEO at CJ Foodville in 2020, Kim has led efforts to improve profitability and expand global operations.
CEO Yoon stated, “The purpose is to secure future growth opportunities by enhancing execution through strategies tailored to the essence and objectives of each business,” adding, “We will transform our business structure to make it stronger, maximize our competitiveness, and evolve into a leading global lifestyle company.”
