According to the Financial Supervisory Service’s electronic disclosure system on the 1st, Maeil Dairies Co., Ltd. announced that it had changed its co-CEO structure from the previous trio of Kim Sun-hee, Lee In-ki, and Kwak Jeong-woo to a dual co-CEO system consisting of Kim Sun-hee and Lee In-ki. The reason for the change was the resignation of CEO Kwak Jeong-woo.
Regarding CEO Kwak’s resignation, a representative of Maeil Dairies Co., Ltd. stated, “He resigned for personal reasons.”
CEO Kwak was appointed as a new CEO alongside CEO Lee In-ki at the end of last year. Consequently, Maeil Dairies Co., Ltd. transitioned to a three-member co-CEO system starting in January of last year, with Vice Chairwoman Kim Sun-hee, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Lee In-ki, and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Kwak Jeong-woo each assuming distinct roles.
At the time, Maeil Dairies Co., Ltd. entrusted CEO Lee with overall operations, including research and development, quality and safety, production and logistics, and management. CEO Kwak was tasked with overseeing comprehensive operations aimed at maximizing sales and profitability. The move was intended to enable the company to respond swiftly to the rapidly changing business environment and shifts in the global market.
Mr. Kwak is an external hire who previously held positions at CJ CheilJedang Corp., E-MART Co., Ltd., SSG.com, and SHINSEGAE FOOD. Since joining Maeil Dairies Co., Ltd., he has served as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), overseeing commerce strategies including product development, sales, and marketing.
With CEO Kwak’s resignation, Maeil Dairies Co., Ltd.’s leadership structure has been reorganized into a dual-CEO system led by Kim Sun-hee and Lee In-ki. CEO Kim has focused on future strategic businesses, overseas operations, talent development, and organizational restructuring. CEO Lee, a Maeil Dairies Co., Ltd. veteran, oversees operational divisions including production, quality, research and development, and management.
