She served as Senior Vice Chairperson of the Korea Voice Actors Association and Chairperson of the KBS Voice Actors’ Association, dedicating herself to advancing members’ rights and the association’s development, and played a major role in fostering harmony and elevating the status of the voice acting community.” “We will long remember the artistic spirit and deep dedication to voice acting that she left behind, and we will forever honor her as a precious asset to South Korea’s voice acting culture,” the association said in its tribute. Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon also joined the wave of tributes. He said, “It was a warm voice that accompanied citizens in their daily lives through Seoul Subway announcements,” adding, “I deeply respect the late Ms. Kang’s dedication to her craft, as she remained behind the microphone even while enduring 47 rounds of cancer treatment.” The production team of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” also paid tribute to the late actress. Through their official social media accounts that day, the team posted: “Our eternal ‘Changgu’s Mom,’ voice actress Kang Hee-sun. Thanks to you, our childhoods were filled with happiness. Thank you for brightening the world with your beautiful voice. We humbly pray for the repose of her soul.” Along with this, they released a photo of voice actress Kang Hee-sun from her appearance on the show last year. In the photo, the late actress is seen saying, “I love my job as a voice actress so much,” which made viewers’ hearts ache even more. Tributes from junior voice actors also poured in. Nam Do-hyung expressed his condolences on social media, saying, “I was truly grateful that you warmly looked after and guided me from my very first year on the job. I will never forget that warmth.” Kim Seon-hye also paid her respects, writing, “May you be free from pain where you are now. May she rest in peace.” Voice actress Kang Hee-sun passed away in the early hours of the 4th at the age of 65. Having publicly revealed her battle with cancer during her lifetime, she appeared on “You Quiz on the Block” last year and calmly shared her journey of undergoing dozens of rounds of chemotherapy after her colon cancer metastasized to her liver. At the time, she said, “I love my job as a voice actress so much,” and “I live each day as if it were my last,” words that deeply resonated with many. Voice actress Kang Hee-sun, who debuted in 1979 as part of the 10th class of the TBC Voice Acting Troupe, established herself as one of South Korea’s leading voice actresses through her work in numerous anime series such as “Anne of Green Gables,” “The Rose of Versailles,” “Ghost in the Shell,” and “Captain Planet.” In foreign film dubbing, she was beloved for voicing actors such as Sharon Stone, Julia Roberts, and Nicole Kidman, and her voice was also familiar to the public through announcements on subway cars and train arrival announcements. Above all, she earned the love of people across generations by portraying Bong Mi-seon, the mother of Shinnosuke, in the animated series *Crayon Shin-chan* for 26 years, starting in 1999. Her passion—staying at the recording studio even while battling illness and never leaving the microphone until the very end—deeply moved many people. The funeral hall is set up in Room 31 of the Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital Funeral Home, and the funeral service will be held at 7:40 a.m. on the 6th. She will be laid to rest at Yongin Park Honorstone.
