[Edaily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] #ILDONG PHARM Group’s health functional food subsidiary, Ildong BioScience, announced on the 6th that it won the “Best Poster Award” at the international microbiome conference “IPC 2026” (International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota and Health) for presenting research findings on probiotics that improve sleep.

“IPC” is an international academic conference that focuses on the relationship between the microbiome and human health, sharing the latest research findings and industry trends in related fields, including probiotics. This year’s event was held in Kraków, Poland, from June 22 to 24.

At the conference, Ildong BioScience presented a poster showcasing the results of a human clinical trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of its proprietary probiotic strain, “Bacillus coagulans IDCC 1201,” in improving sleep quality.

This human clinical trial was conducted using a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design to assess the effects of a four-week intake of “IDCC 1201” on objective sleep metrics and subjective sleep quality in adults with sleep disorders.

The study results showed that, based on objective indicators analyzed via polysomnography (PSG), sleep efficiency increased by more than 13%, and total sleep time increased by approximately 50 minutes. This indicates that the ratio of actual sleep time to time spent in bed increased.

Furthermore, Wake After Sleep Onset (WASO) and Total Wake Time were significantly reduced in the supplement group, confirming improved sleep continuity.

Subjective sleep quality also improved. On the “Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI),” which evaluates sleep duration, time to fall asleep, sleep quality, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, use of sleep aids, and daytime functioning, the “IDCC 1201” group showed significantly greater improvement compared to the control group.

An official from Ildong BioScience stated, “Through this award, our probiotic R&D capabilities and competitiveness in functional ingredients have been recognized on the international academic stage,” adding, “We plan to continue pursuing follow-up research and commercialization of IDCC 1201.”
