Namgoong Min appeared on the KBS2 variety show “The Problem Children of the Attic Season 2,” which aired on the 10th, and showcased his witty banter.
That day, Namgoong Min drew attention with his unexpectedly strong variety show performance. He revealed his background as a former host of “Music Bank,” saying, “I was told that doing this would make me even more famous,” which drew laughter from the audience.
The show also touched on Namgoong Min’s representative works. Regarding *Remember: War of the Son*, which generated significant buzz for his transformation into a villain, he said, “After playing a villain, I realized there’s evil inside me too.”
He continued, “As I tried to release the emotions I’d been suppressing through my acting, ad-libs just kept pouring out,” adding, “Back then, once I got immersed in the character, it was hard to step out of it.” Namgoong Min, who admitted that the praise for his villainous role in *Remember* wasn’t entirely comfortable, drew laughter by adding, “These days, I step out of the role immediately after filming wraps. As soon as I hear ‘cut,’ I’m back to myself.”
Namgoong Min, who has been married for four years, also shared the love story with his wife, Jin Ah-reum. He recalled his first encounter with actress Jin Ah-reum, who had come to the audition for a short film he directed. “I first saw my wife at the audition, and unlike the opinions of the other staff members, I liked her the most. Looking back now, I think it was probably because I had a personal interest in her,” he said.
He continued, “Things didn’t progress during filming, but with the help of a friend who was my wife’s acting coach, we started meeting outside of work,” adding, “After about two months of courting, we started dating,” which drew attention.
Meanwhile, Namgoong Min candidly shared the story of how his life took a 180-degree turn, transforming him from an “ordinary engineering student” into “actor Namgoong Min.” Namgoong Min recalled, “At the time, I went to work as a supporting model for a commercial starring the late Choi Jin-sil. After the shoot, a senior colleague introduced me to a manager, and that’s how I started my acting career.”
He also added, “My parents used to say they felt anxious watching my acting, but I hear they’re able to watch it with peace of mind these days,” creating a heartwarming moment.
