[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] In JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Apartment,” Ji Sung reaffirmed his resolve to secure 10 billion won, marking the beginning of a scam.
According to Nielsen Korea, a ratings research firm, on the 13th, the second episode of JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Apartment,” which aired on the 12th, recorded a viewership rating of 5.4% nationwide and 5.8% in the Seoul metropolitan area.
On that day, Park Hae-gang (Ji Sung)—who set out to become the apartment complex chairman to rescue Park Yong-man (Jung Jin-young), who was imprisoned in a detention center—sealed a secret 100 million won deal with Kang Ha-ri (Ha Yoon-kyung) to exploit the apartment complex’s characteristic “close-knit family” dynamic.
In the drama, after grilling “Lizard” (Kim Won-hae), a former apartment manager who is currently on the run, Park Hae-gang discovered that the long-term repair reserve fund accumulated within the apartment complex amounted to a staggering 17.8 billion won. Determined to rescue Yong-man from detention within three months and secure funds for his younger siblings to start fresh, Park Hae-gang resolved to become the chairman of the Residents’ Council—a position that grants legal access to the maintenance funds—and began plotting his strategy.
However, Hae-gang, who had intended to submit his application for the position based on his “self-made man” image, hit a massive wall at the management office. He realized that in the apartment’s community—where trust is built on family-oriented values, such as raising children or three generations living together—a single man could never be elected. Hae-gang revised his strategy and set out to recruit Kang Ha-ri, the woman in the fake wedding photos, as his “wife.” Ha-ri, who needed a large sum of money immediately to repay her older sister Kang Ha-jeong (Ryu Hyun-kyung) for her decade of devotion, accepted the offer.
In that episode, Lee Chung-won’s (Park Byung-eun) cruel true nature was revealed. Upon discovering that a “parking villain” had slashed the tires of his car, he tied the person to a golf simulator screen and fired a shot at them. He further revealed his madness by declaring, “This apartment complex is mine, and I’ll kill anyone who messes with my stuff in my territory.” As Chung-won’s shocking true nature was revealed, curiosity about the next episode has grown.
JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Apartment” follows Park Hae-gang, a former boss of the Oasis Gang who runs for president of the residents’ association to get his hands on hidden funds within the apartment complex, as he works with the residents to root out corruption. It airs every Saturday at 10:40 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 p.m.
