LabGenomics. Co., Ltd. announced on the 14th that Ruha Galacticos had acquired an additional 1,240,100 shares of the company through on-market purchases. As a result, the number of shares held by Ruhagalacticos increased from 13,893,425 to 15,133,525, and its ownership stake expanded from 18.7% to 20.38%. The purchase amounted to approximately 1 billion won.
This purchase follows a 2 billion won on-market acquisition carried out last June. At that time, Luha Galacticos acquired an additional 1,893,891 shares, raising its stake from approximately 16.2% to 18.7%.
Ruhagalacticos is a special purpose company (SPC) established by Ruhape, a private equity fund (PEF) manager. The largest shareholder’s consecutive increases in its stake are interpreted as reflecting confidence in LabGenomics. Co., Ltd.’s medium- to long-term growth potential and corporate value.
LabGenomics. Co., Ltd. has recently been accelerating the expansion of its high-value-added diagnostic business, centered on its CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments)-certified labs in the U.S. While strengthening its portfolio of highly profitable tests—such as next-generation sequencing (NGS), cancer diagnostics, and genetic testing—based on its local infrastructure in the U.S., the company is also pursuing a profitability-focused business restructuring in South Korea, including the divestment of non-core businesses.
In particular, the company is expanding its lineup of cancer diagnostic tests centered on its U.S. subsidiary, IMD (Integrated Molecular Diagnostics), and is moving to expand high-value-added services by leveraging local hospital networks. The strategy is to expand its existing diagnostic test-centric business structure into the precision diagnostics sector to simultaneously enhance the growth potential and profitability of its U.S. operations.
In addition, the company plans to integrate the sales organizations of QDx and IMD and unify both companies’ brands under “LabGenomics” to establish a competitive pricing and service structure in the U.S. market.
Previously, LabGenomics. Co., Ltd. announced last month that it had decided to conduct a 5-for-1 stock consolidation. Through this move, the company aims to adjust the number of outstanding shares to an appropriate level, mitigate the perception of the stock as a low-priced stock, and lay the groundwork for a more reasonable market valuation of its corporate value.
