Key officials, including the Deputy Mayor of Pyeongtaek, Yang Xueshen, Chairman of Zhongrui Electronics, and Jeong Bong-jin, CEO of KNS CO., LTD., attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
The Pyeongtaek Campus will consist of one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a site area of 6,413 pyeong and a total floor area of 6,650 pyeong.
The company expects its production capacity for 4680 (46-pai) cylindrical battery components to expand significantly upon the campus’s completion.
Zongrui Korea currently produces components for 2170 batteries at Plant 1 and components for 46-pai batteries at Plant 2. With high energy density and long power endurance as their key strengths, 46-pai batteries are seeing expanded application across various fields, including electric vehicles, robotaxis, energy storage systems (ESS), and humanoid robots.
The company passed the final quality testing for 46-phi core components last March and began mass production; it plans to expand both production capacity and the range of components supplied through the expansion of its Pyeongtaek campus to meet growing demand.
A company official stated, “This expansion of the Pyeongtaek campus demonstrates that the cylindrical battery form factor is becoming mainstream in the global rechargeable battery market and that demand is growing,” adding, “The application of 46-phi cylindrical batteries is expanding beyond electric vehicles to various fields such as robotaxis, humanoid robots, and future mobility solutions.” The spokesperson continued, “The growing demand for related components is expected to continue driving our upward trend in performance,” adding, “As a key hub in the global cylindrical battery value chain, we will strive for continuous technological development and market expansion.”
