[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] VIVOZON PHARMACEUTICAL(082800)is launching a tablet-form bowel cleanser to target the relevant market. VIVOZON PHARMACEUTICAL announced on the 21st that it will launch “Larapang Tablets,” a tablet-form bowel cleanser designed to improve patient convenience. (Photo courtesy of VIVOZON PHARMACEUTICAL) The product received marketing approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety last May as a pre-procedure medication for bowel cleansing prior to colonoscopy and is scheduled to be launched at the end of this month. LaraPang Tablets are designed to address the inconvenience associated with existing liquid bowel preparation solutions. Liquid products have been criticized for their distinctive taste and the burden of having to ingest large volumes of liquid, which has led to low patient compliance. The company explained that it has resolved these issues with the tablet formulation. Its efficacy and safety have also been confirmed through clinical trials. In a Phase 3 clinical trial involving 240 patients requiring bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy, the primary endpoint—bowel preparation efficacy—met the criterion of non-inferiority compared to the active control drug. The burden of administration has also been reduced. While the total dosage of existing tablet-based bowel preparation products is around 28 tablets, Larapang Tablets require only 20 tablets—a reduction of approximately 29%. The company explained that the size of the tablets has also been reduced to improve patient compliance. The domestic bowel preparation market is estimated to be worth approximately 50 billion won, and demand has recently been shifting toward tablet-based products due to their ease of use. VIVOZON PHARMACEUTICAL plans to expand its market share with this product. A company official stated, “LaraPang Tablets were developed to reduce the burden on patients during the colonoscopy preparation process,” adding, “With this launch, we aim to provide healthcare professionals and patients with a new option and strengthen our market competitiveness.”
