[Edaily Reporter KYUNG GYEYOUNG ] Lotte India (LOTTE India), a subsidiary of Lotte Group ( LOTTE WELLFOOD(280360)), announced on the 27th that it has begun full-scale operations of the fourth production line for “Lotte Choco Pie” at its Rotak plant in Haryana, India.

Lotte India began expanding its fourth Lotte Choco Pie production line in May 2024 with an investment of 30 billion won and has been undergoing a stabilization phase since last month. With the addition of the fourth line, Lotte India’s Choco Pie production capacity (CAPA) will increase by 33% on an annual basis.

This expansion was pursued to further strengthen market dominance as Lotte Choco Pie gained such popularity in India that its annual sales in the country surpassed 100 billion won for the first time. Currently, Lotte Choco Pie holds a market share of over 70% in the Indian Choco Pie market.

LOTTE WELLFOOD has continuously invested in infrastructure to meet rising demand, including the addition of a third production line at its Chennai plant in Tamil Nadu in 2023. Having posted an average annual growth rate of 20% in India over the past three years, Lotte Choco Pie is expected to see sales growth of more than 20% year-over-year this year as well.

Marking the first anniversary of the integration of its snack and frozen dessert businesses this year, Lotte India plans to continue consolidating its distribution network coverage across the south, north, and west to maximize the operational efficiency of its integrated Indian subsidiary. The company also intends to improve profitability by streamlining its logistics and production hubs. Based on these efforts, Lotte India aims to achieve annual sales of 1 trillion won by 2032.

A LOTTE WELLFOOD official stated, “With the launch of the fourth production line for Lotte Choco Pie, a mega-brand in the Indian market, we are now able to reliably meet growing local demand,” adding, “Through the steady growth of Lotte Choco Pie and the ongoing streamlining of the integrated subsidiary, we will emerge as a leading company in India’s dry and frozen confectionery market.”
