[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] Robotics specialist KNR SYSTEMS Inc.(199430)has developed an industrial robot hand capable of a maximum grip force of 300 kg. The company plans to install it on its high-load superhumanoid—currently under development with a target release date of year-end—for use in heavy industry and construction sites.

KNR SYSTEMS Inc. announced on the 27th that it has completed production of the robotic hand to be installed on the super-humanoid robot, which is scheduled to be unveiled at the end of this year.

This robotic hand is the first milestone in the development of the super-humanoid robot currently being developed by KNR SYSTEMS Inc. With a maximum grip force of 300 kgf per hand, it is designed for work environments in heavy industry and construction sites where heavy objects or tools must be handled.

Existing humanoid robot hands have often focused on replicating the intricate movements of a human hand. KNR SYSTEMS Inc. explained that this robot hand is capable of both gripping heavy objects firmly and precisely picking up small objects with its fingertips.

The robotic hand is designed to be approximately twice the size of an average adult hand. It is scheduled to be integrated into the “Super Humanoid,” a large, high-payload robot.

The key lies in a proprietary optimized design that simultaneously controls the finger joints using a minimal number of actuators. This enables the robotic hand to naturally wrap around and grip objects or pick them up with its fingertips based on their shape, without requiring complex control systems.

Another key feature is the simplified drive structure, which enhances durability and reduces weight. It is designed to reliably deliver strong gripping force even in harsh industrial environments involving impacts, dust, and rough surfaces. It is compatible with both hydraulic and electric drive systems, allowing it to be applied to a wide range of robot platforms.

KNR SYSTEMS Inc. completed a patent application for the robotic hand’s core drive mechanism last April.

According to the company, the robotic hand’s grip force of 300 kgf is equivalent to approximately 2,942 N. This is about six times the average grip force of a Namsung, which is typically cited as 400–500 N.

KNR SYSTEMS Inc. also emphasized its precise force control technology. The company explained that, while using powerful hydraulic technology to grip and secure heavy components or structures, it has applied force control algorithms to safely handle objects prone to breakage or deformation—such as eggs, round balls, and thin cans.

In the future, the company plans to implement coordinated two-arm operations, where one robotic hand secures an object while the other performs cutting or fastening tasks. Once the hands, arms, waist, and legs are fully integrated, the goal is to manipulate loads of 300 kg with one arm and 600 kg with both arms.

The Super Humanoid is a large-scale industrial humanoid robot. It employs a hybrid system combining electric motors and hydraulic actuators and is being developed with a target maximum payload capacity of 600 kg.

Unlike stationary robots, this is a large bipedal robot that moves directly to the worksite to perform tasks; its design, with a total height of 2.7 meters or less, allows it to pass through narrow entrances. The company believes that once its capabilities are expanded from on-board operation to remote operation, it can be deployed in environments where human access is difficult or where heavy-load operations are required—such as nuclear power plant decommissioning, disaster sites, construction sites, and underwater environments.

KNR SYSTEMS Inc. signed an “AI Robot Foundry Partnership” with SEOJIN SYSTEM CO., LTD last December. SEOJIN SYSTEM CO., LTD has completed the installation of production facilities necessary for manufacturing robotic hands at its production base in Vietnam and has secured certification for mass production systems targeting global customers.

The two companies will combine KNR SYSTEMS Inc.’s Super Humanoid technology with SEOJIN SYSTEM CO., LTD’s mass production infrastructure to pursue production and sales collaboration targeting global big tech companies. Under this structure, KNR SYSTEMS Inc. will lead development and supply, while SEOJIN SYSTEM CO., LTD will support manufacturing and sales by leveraging its global network.

Kim Myeong-han, CEO of KNR SYSTEMS Inc., stated, “The key feature of KNR SYSTEMS Inc.’s robotic hand is that it was developed to provide the powerful grip required in industrial settings while also enabling precision tasks.” He added, “Now that the production process for the entire Super Humanoid has gotten on track following the completion of the robotic hand—a core component—we will finalize overall system integration within the year to unveil a high-payload robotic solution.”
