[Edaily Reporter SOYEON KIM ] LGELECTRONICS has been selected as the top contractor for the Jeju Heat Pump Deployment Project—a flagship initiative of the heating electrification policy—after being entrusted with installing heat pumps in 450 households, the highest number among all contractors. LGELECTRONICS plans to lead the domestic heating electrification market based on its differentiated products and technological capabilities.

LGELECTRONICS announced on the 2nd that it held the “Official No. 1 Heat Pump Deployment Project Plaque Unveiling Ceremony” on the 31st of last month, in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment and the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, at a single-family home located on Gureung-dongsan-gil in Jeju City to mark the full-scale launch of the project.

The event was attended by key officials, including Lee Ho-hyun, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment; Wi Seong-gon, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province; Seok Seung-woo, Head of the Eco-Friendly Safety Division at the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute; and Oh Se-gi, Head of the ES Research Institute at LGELECTRONICS.

The site of the first installation is a 55-pyeong detached house occupied by a family of five. The “LG Therma V Heat Pump Boiler”—a high-efficiency integrated heat pump system boiler from LGELECTRONICS, the lead contractor for this project—was installed there.

The government, which is promoting policies for decarbonization and the electrification of heating, is carrying out its first heat pump deployment project in Jeju. LGELECTRONICS was selected as the lead contractor in Jeju in recognition of its differentiated product competitiveness, installation and after-sales service infrastructure, and business experience accumulated in the global market. The company will be responsible for installing units in 450 households—the largest share—out of the 1,042 households targeted for deployment in Jeju during the first half of the year.

LG Corp.'s ThermaV heat pump system boiler is a high-efficiency, high-performance system that uses an air-source heat pump, capable of generating approximately 4 to 5 times the thermal energy relative to the input power. This enables energy cost savings of about 40–60% compared to conventional fossil fuel-based boilers, significantly contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.

With its integrated design—where the outdoor unit and key components are combined into a single unit—the system requires no separate refrigerant piping work and can utilize existing hot water pipes in homes, offering exceptional installation convenience. It uses R32 refrigerant, which has a low Global Warming Potential (GWP), to reduce environmental impact, and supports remote control via the LG Corp. ThinQ app.

LGELECTRONICS has been operating its heat pump business in the global market since 2008. In 2011, the company launched its system boiler business in South Korea, and in 2018, it became the only domestic manufacturer to supply residential integrated heat pump system boilers, thereby accumulating business capabilities optimized for the Korean market.
On the 31st of last month, LGELECTRONICS held the “Official Unveiling Ceremony for the First Unit of the 2026 Jeju Heat Pump Adoption Project” in Jeju City. The “LG Therma V” heat pump system boiler installed as part of this Jeju adoption project can generate approximately 4 to 5 times more thermal energy than the electrical power it consumes. LGELECTRONICS’ heat pumps are solidifying their strong foothold in global markets, including Europe. In addition, the company has supplied heat pumps to more than 100,000 households across five Southern European countries, including France and Spain, and continues to supply products to a large-scale residential complex in North Macedonia. In Germany, the company is expanding its supply through strategic partnerships with local installers, and in the UK, it has signed a partnership with Octopus Energy, the country’s largest electricity supplier, to supply heat pumps, steadily broadening its business footprint across Europe.

LGELECTRONICS also recently received recognition for its technological capabilities at MCE 2026, a global HVAC exhibition held in Milan, Italy, where both the outdoor and indoor units of its residential heat pump system won Excellence Awards.

Lee Jae-sung, President of LGELECTRONICS’ ES Business Division, said, “Based on our proven technological capabilities and extensive business experience in global markets such as Europe, we will lead the heat pump deployment initiative to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy in Korea.”
