[Edaily Reporter Kim Ji-woo ] To mark the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day, Binggrae(005180)is presenting honorary passports of the Republic of Korea to 30 independence activists who passed away overseas and were unable to return to their homeland.

Binggrae announced on the 3rd that it is conducting the independence movement campaign “Korea’s Most Radiant Passport” in collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This campaign was planned to honor the dedication of independence activists who fought for independence overseas but passed away before Liberation. The honorees include 30 individuals, such as Ahn Jung-geun, Kim Tae-yeon, Kim Cheon-ik, Park Young, and Lee Ae-ra.

They participated in the independence movement by engaging in armed struggle, diplomacy, education, and journalism in China, Russia’s Primorsky Krai, and Japan.

The honorary passports were modeled after actual South Korean passports. They feature photographs and personal information of the independence activists in passport format, while the interior pages include historical materials and locations related to the independence movement, such as the *Independence News*, the Taegeukgi flag, Harbin Station, and the Shinhung Military Academy.

Binggrae held a ceremony to present the honorary passports at the Independence Hall of Korea on the 18th of last month. The event was attended by 33 descendants of independence activists from Korea and abroad, as well as Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kwon Oh-eul, Ambassador for Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Im Sang-woo, and Kim Hee-gon, Director of the Independence Hall of Korea.

During the ceremony, the honorary passports and plaques of appreciation were presented to the descendants. Kim Yong-seon, a descendant of Mr. Kim Cheon-ik, read a letter of thanks on behalf of the descendants.

The campaign video was released on the 1st via TV and Binggrae’s official YouTube and Instagram channels. It is also scheduled to be screened at Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport and on the media wall at the Seoul National Cemetery.

Binggrae has been conducting annual campaigns to honor independence activists since 2019, marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. In 2023, the company presented “The World’s Latest Graduation Ceremony” for student independence activists, and in 2024, it unveiled “The First Time Wearing Liberation,” which reconstructed the images of independence activists who died in prison. Last year, it ran the “The First Time Hearing Liberation” campaign, which recreated the shouts of “Manse” from the time of liberation.

A Binggrae spokesperson stated, “The Honorary Passport is a token of our promise that independence activists will never have to leave the Republic of Korea again,” adding, “We hope this will serve as an opportunity to continue remembering their names and dedication.”
