Korea Information Engineering Services announced on the 3rd that it has signed a domestic strategic partnership agreement with nTels Co., Ltd. for “Tarzan DB.”

Under this agreement, Korea Information Engineering Services will oversee the domestic supply of Tarzan DB, provide technical support, foster partner relationships, conduct joint sales efforts, and establish a maintenance system. The company plans to expand its customer base, focusing on the enterprise market, including the financial and manufacturing sectors.

Recently, as demand for generative AI and data analytics has grown, companies view securing data sovereignty, reducing licensing costs, and establishing a stable data management platform as key priorities.

nTels Co., Ltd.’s Tarzan DB is an AI-based DBMS solution. It provides the high availability, large-scale transaction processing, and fault recovery capabilities required in enterprise environments. The company explains that it also offers compatibility and stability that can reduce the burden of migrating from Oracle-based business systems.

Korea Information Engineering Services explained that Tarzan DB can reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) by approximately 40–70% compared to Oracle through a reasonable licensing policy. Based on this, the company plans to secure a competitive edge in the domestic DBMS market, which is currently dominated by Oracle and Tibero.

Leveraging its accumulated experience in IT infrastructure deployment, Korea Information Engineering Services plans to provide integrated services including database implementation, performance optimization, and technical support. The company intends to expand its customer base—currently centered on the financial sector and public institutions—to include regional financial institutions and manufacturing companies.

The company will also leverage its regional sales network. In addition to the Seoul metropolitan area, Korea Information Engineering Services plans to establish a joint sales and technical support system with regional system integration (SI) firms and specialized partners, based on its nationwide sales hubs—including Daejeon, Busan, and Gwangju—and its network of regional partners.

Korea Information Engineering Services has recently been expanding its generative AI business centered on its proprietary solutions, “HaroChat” and “HaroPipeX.” The company explains that through this partnership with Tarzan DB Inc., it has now established a portfolio that provides both AI infrastructure and data layers.

Yoo Yong-seok, CEO of Korea Information Engineering Services, stated, “Since AI infrastructure requires not only servers but also a stable data management platform, this agreement fills the final piece of the puzzle for our AI business.” He added, “We will provide integrated solutions to our customers and aim to become a leading integrated AI platform company that encompasses generative AI and data governance in the future.”
