[Edaily Reporter Kim Ji-woo ] Daesang(001680) Daesang’s Cheongjeonwon announced on the 5th that its “Ultra-Convenient Soup Dishes,” launched last July under its ready-to-eat brand “Homings,” have surpassed 1 million packs in cumulative sales just one year after their release.

They are designed to address the limitations of existing frozen soup dishes, such as the cumbersome thawing process, insufficient amounts of solid ingredients, and bulky packaging that makes storage difficult. The product—about the size of an adult’s palm—contains pre-prepared meat, vegetables, seafood, and other solid ingredients along with a concentrated sauce, enhancing convenience for freezer storage.
Daesang applied pre-processing technologies tailored to the characteristics of each ingredient to preserve the texture of the solid ingredients. The company explained that it standardized the cooking process so that, regardless of the menu or ingredient composition, the meal requires only 180 seconds of cooking after the water comes to a boil, thereby enhancing cooking convenience.
Daesang attributes the sales growth to demand from consumers—including single-person households, dual-income families, and senior households—who are seeking convenient yet hearty meals with plenty of solid ingredients.
Buoyed by consumer response, the company is also expanding its product lineup. It recently added four new products—including tripe hot pot, assorted blood sausage soup, wild turnip and soybean paste stew, and squid and radish soup—increasing the number of ultra-convenient soup dishes from 8 to 12.
The company also introduced a new line of “ultra-convenient stir-fry dishes,” which can be prepared by simply placing the frozen product and water in a frying pan and cooking for about 3 minutes and 30 seconds. The lineup includes five varieties: Spicy Stir-Fried Squid, Kimchi Stir-Fry, Authentic Japchae, Boneless Soy Sauce Braised Chicken, and Earthenware Pot Bulgogi.
Yoon Jeong-won, Head of Daesang’s Frozen Soup and Stew Division, stated, “Thanks to consumers’ high satisfaction with the innovative cooking experience and taste, we surpassed 1 million bags sold within just one year of launch.” He added, “Based on our technological capabilities and manufacturing expertise, we will continue to introduce differentiated products—such as soups and stir-fries—that combine convenience and flavor, thereby leading the ultra-convenient meal market.”
