[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] SamsungElectronics(005930)is launching a service in collaboration with Korail that allows users to access mobile train tickets via Samsung Wallet. The initiative aims to enhance customer convenience by replacing paper tickets purchased at offline ticket counters with mobile tickets, while also reducing paper usage.

SamsungElectronics announced that it launched Korail’s “Paperless Ticket” service on Samsung Wallet starting on the 10th.

Going forward, users can register mobile tickets in Samsung Wallet instead of receiving physical paper tickets. The service is available after users provide their consent in advance through Samsung Wallet.

When customers who have agreed to use the service pay for a ticket with Samsung Wallet at an offline ticket window at any Korail station, the mobile ticket is automatically added to Samsung Wallet.

Korail tickets issued through the “Korail+” integrated app, launched on the 3rd, can also be easily added via Samsung Wallet’s “Add to Wallet” feature. Korail+ is an app that allows users to access both Korail and SY CO., LTD. services on a single platform.

To enhance customer convenience, SamsungElectronics has also enabled the return and refund of mobile tickets directly within Samsung Wallet.

Mobile tickets added to Samsung Wallet sync with the calendar and Now Brief on Galaxy devices. This allows users to receive advance notifications of train departure times and manage their travel schedules more easily.

SamsungElectronics expects this service to reduce the issuance of physical paper tickets, thereby contributing to environmental protection and cost savings. The company explains that this will cut costs associated with ticket production and disposal.
