[Edaily Reporter Kim Ji-woo ] NamyangDairyProducts(003920)is expanding its support for children with pediatric epilepsy and their families. Now in its second year, the event was expanded from last year’s one-night, two-day format to a two-night, three-day program. Co-hosted by NamyangDairyProducts and the Seoul ASEM Rotary Club and organized by the Korea Epilepsy Association, the camp was attended by 10 families of children with epilepsy.
The camp featured programs tailored to each child, parent, and family. Through group counseling and discussions with medical staff, parents shared their parenting and treatment experiences and exchanged information necessary for the treatment and management of epilepsy.
The children interacted with their peers through recreational activities and making eco-bags. Family-oriented programs included “Creating a Happiness Mission Book” and “Making Family Cheer Frames.” Leisure programs were also arranged so that the families could visit Everland. NamyangDairyProducts deployed volunteers during the camp and ensured that medical staff from the Department of Pediatric Neurology at Yongin Severance Hospital were on standby on-site.
In addition to the camp, NamyangDairyProducts continues to produce products for epilepsy patients who require a special diet. Since developing the liquid ketogenic diet “Ketonia” in 2002, the company has been producing it for 24 years; currently, NamyangDairyProducts is the only company in South Korea that produces and supplies liquid ketogenic diets.
Ketonia is a food for special medical purposes designed for epilepsy patients who require a ketogenic diet—one that restricts carbohydrate intake and increases the proportion of fat intake. In the first half of this year, NamyangDairyProducts also launched a reformulated product with enhanced C10 fatty acid content.
The company is also expanding its patient support programs. This year, it established an “Employee Scholarship” program to support the education of college students with epilepsy. Last June, it produced picnic mats featuring artwork by patients with epilepsy and donated all proceeds from their sale to support patients.
Last year, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Epilepsy Association, expanding the number of families with children with epilepsy it supports from 10 to 22 and broadening the scope of support for medical institutions.
Jang Jong-jin, Manager of the Brand Team at NamyangDairyProducts, said, “We will continue to listen to the voices of patients and their families and provide practical support.”
