According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 10th, “The Odyssey” drew 1,333,436 viewers over the weekend from the 7th to the 9th, taking the top spot at the box office. Its cumulative audience count stands at 1,874,730.
“The Odyssey” has held the No. 1 spot at the box office for five consecutive days since its release, overtaking “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (Spider-Man 4).
“Spider-Man 4” continues its run, holding onto the No. 2 spot. Released on the 29th of last month, “Spider-Man 4” drew 1,264,530 viewers over the three-day weekend, bringing its cumulative total to 5,911,932.
In third place is the Korean animated film *Love Hachuping: The Legend of the Whale Gem* (*Hachuping 2*), which drew 289,446 viewers over the weekend, demonstrating the enduring appeal of the popular character “Hachuping.”
“Hope” took fourth place with 100,889 weekend viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 4.39 million. Fifth place went to “David,” which drew 16,861 viewers.
“Odyssey,” which tells an epic myth, and the superhero blockbuster “Spider-Man 4” are both enjoying strong box office success. Amid fierce competition in the summer movie season, Korean films “Okay Madam 2” and “Gyeongju Journey” are also set to be released soon.
