HanWool Materials Science, Inc. announced today that its subsidiary, KnJ Co., Ltd., has obtained a building occupancy permit from Sejong Special Self-Governing City for Manufacturing Building 2 at the Sejong Campus.
Manufacturing Building 2 is a four-story production facility. Combined with Manufacturing Building 1, which was completed last March, the total gross floor area of the Sejong Campus is 11,088.76 square meters. Manufacturing Building 2 is approximately twice the size of Manufacturing Building 1 and is slated to house a large-scale polymer production line.
Through this, JK Materials plans to establish an integrated production system for semiconductor front-end photoresist (PR) materials, encompassing both photosensitive materials (PSM) and polymers. The company will also expand its business in back-end packaging materials, such as PSPI and PBO, to strengthen its material portfolio covering the entire process from front-end to back-end.
In particular, the company’s plan to expand production capacity (CAPA) in response to rising demand for semiconductor materials driven by the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) is seen as a key factor stimulating investor sentiment.
KnJ Co., Ltd. has invested more than 85 billion won in its Sejong Campus over the past four years to establish a supply chain for high-purity semiconductor materials.
