[Edaily Reporter Kim Ji-woo ] Binggrae(005180)is hosting a special exhibition featuring “Honorary Passports” for 30 independence activists to mark the 81st anniversary of Korea’s Liberation.

This exhibition is part of Binggrae’s ongoing 81st anniversary of Liberation independence movement campaign, “Korea’s Most Radiant Passports.” It features honorary passports for 30 independence activists who fought for independence overseas but passed away in foreign lands before witnessing Korea’s liberation.

Based on records from the Digital Archives of Meritorious Service, Binggrae selected 30 independence activists who were awarded the Order of National Foundation, Medal of Independence or higher, and for whom photographic evidence exists. These individuals traveled to various countries in support of the independence movement but were unable to obtain passports issued in the name of their homeland at the time.

Accordingly, honorary passports for each independence activist were created using actual Republic of Korea passports as a motif. The company explained that this design reflects the historical context in which these individuals had to rely on foreign identification documents and various certificates during the independence movement.

On the 18th of last month, Binggrae held a ceremony at the Independence Hall of Korea to present honorary passports to representatives of the descendants of seven independence activists. The company also plans to separately deliver honorary passports to the descendants of four other independence activists who were unable to attend the event.

A campaign video was also released. The video, released on the 1st, recorded approximately 7 million cumulative views in just 10 days. It is available on Binggrae’s official YouTube and social media channels and will be screened on the media wall at Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2 until the 15th and on the media wall at the Seoul National Cemetery until the 31st.

A Binggrae official stated, “We express our gratitude and respect to the independence activists who dedicated their lives to the cause of independence but were ultimately unable to return to their homeland,” adding, “We hope this special exhibition will serve as an opportunity for more citizens to remember the sacrifices and dedication of these independence activists.”
