On the 20th, the production team of SBS’s “We Have a Chance” stated, “We are taking the recent issues involving a cast member very seriously,” adding, “We are currently discussing the matter carefully from various angles with the production company and relevant parties. We will provide an update through official channels as soon as a decision is made.” They added, “However, given the practical need to minimize disruption to the numerous staff members and cast, we are currently coordinating the remaining essential filming schedule from various angles.” Ha Young has been taking a break from filming SBS’s new drama “We Have a Chance” since last week to rest and recover, and it was reported that she would return to work today. It was recently reported that Ha Young shed tears during filming, and following that, the production team reportedly determined that she was in a state of mental and physical instability and allowed her to take a break. In response, her agency, Bisters, stated, “We are currently proceeding with the existing filming schedule,” adding, “We ask for your understanding as it is difficult for us to provide specific details regarding the schedule or progress at this time.” Ha Young recently became embroiled in controversy after details emerged regarding her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang-ho’s, pro-Japanese activities. Ahn Sang-ho was active in the Daejeong Friendship Society, a pro-Japanese organization during the Japanese colonial period, and reportedly stated in an interview with the Maeil Shinbo, “I am the same as a Japanese person.” In a handwritten apology, Ha Young stated, “Until now, I had only a fragmentary understanding of my great-grandfather’s life based on stories passed down through my family. I am ashamed to admit that, in my ignorance, I have spoken of my great-grandfather on various occasions as if he were a source of family pride,” adding, “I will take this matter deeply to heart. I will take a closer look at my family’s history and that era, and I will adopt a more cautious attitude toward history in the future. Furthermore, I will study our history in depth and do my best to serve with respect those who fought for independence and all those who contributed to our nation’s liberation and peace.” As the controversy spreads, it is also affecting Ha Young’s upcoming project, the SBS drama *There Is a Chance*. In response, the production team of *There Is a Chance* stated, “A significant portion of filming has already been completed, and we ask for your understanding as it is difficult for us to disclose details regarding the amount of footage or the specific progress rate,” adding, “We are aware of this matter and are closely monitoring how the situation unfolds. We will provide an update once more details are available.”
