SamsungElectronics announced on the 21st that it received a total of 45 awards at “IDEA 2026”—including one Impact Award, nine Bronze Awards, and 35 Honorable Mentions—and also won 12 awards, including one top prize, in the Brand & Communication category at the “Red Dot Design Award 2026.”

Organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the IDEA Awards evaluate design innovation, user experience, and social contribution. The Impact Award, newly established this year, is an additional honor given to winning entries that demonstrate strength in sustainability, and SamsungElectronics’ “Home Appliance Accessibility Design” was named the first recipient.

The Home Appliance Accessibility Design is characterized by its consideration of users’ varying physical characteristics—such as vision, hearing, mobility, and cognition—to ensure that anyone can conveniently use appliances like washing machines and refrigerators. It offers features such as “Easy Use Mode,” which allows users to enlarge on-screen text or receive voice guidance, and “Auto Door Open,” which opens doors with a light touch or voice command.

Accessibility features set up on mobile devices can be used directly on home appliances, and the system automatically switches to personalized settings by recognizing the user’s voice via Voice ID. This allows for a customized user experience even on appliances shared by multiple people.

The IDEA Bronze Award went to the “Infinite AI Air Purifier,” featuring a curved exterior and a pop-up air purification booster, as well as a brand identity that visualizes the picture quality and immersive experience of Micro RGB. Other award-winning entries included a smartphone packaging concept utilizing an origami-style design on a single sheet of recycled paper, the ‘Portable SSD T7 Resurrected’ with an outer case made from recycled aluminum, and the AI-based design solution ‘AIDC.’

At the Red Dot Design Awards, the “Privacy Display” featured on the Galaxy S26 Ultra received the “Best of the Best” award, the highest honor in the Brand & Communication category. This feature allows the screen to be viewed clearly from the front but makes the content difficult to see from the side, thereby reducing the exposure of personal information in public places.

Eleven designs received main awards, including the visual branding for the portable screen “The Moving Style,” the “Vision AI Companion” that provides a personalized viewing experience, and the 2026 Milan Design Week exhibition “Design Is an Expression of Love.” The ‘Galaxy XR Package,’ which can be used as a long-term storage container, and the ‘Samsung IoT Digital Twin,’ which visualizes the status of building facilities in 3D, were also among the award-winning designs.

Mauro Porcini, President and Chief Design Officer (CDO) of SamsungElectronics’ Device Experience (DX) Division, said, “Design has the power to connect ideas with people and transform them into meaningful experiences,” adding, “Based on a deep understanding of people, we will continue to create experiences that lead to a better life and a better future.”
