The southern coastal region, including Geoje, has a history of recurring flood damage—both large and small—such as urban areas being submerged during torrential rains or high tides. This time, in particular, the damage was exacerbated by an unprecedented deluge. The camp, set up at the disaster site, consists of an emergency response team of approximately 60 employees from Hyundai MARINE & FIRE INSURANCE CO.,LTD and its subsidiaries—Hyundai Hi-Car Loss Adjusters and Hi-Car Plaza—as well as 12 tow trucks. The team is moving flooded vehicles to temporary storage facilities and assisting customers who visit the camp with various flood-related compensation consultations and accident reporting. Hyundai MARINE & FIRE INSURANCE CO.,LTD plans to operate the camp until recovery efforts are complete. Lim Ji-hoon, Executive Vice President and Head of the Auto Claims Division at Hyundai MARINE & FIRE INSURANCE CO.,LTD, emphasized, “We will do our utmost to minimize the inconvenience faced by customers who are disheartened by this unexpected flood damage,” adding, “We will provide support to help the local community recover from the damage, even if only slightly, through prompt accident processing and insurance payouts.” Meanwhile, Hyundai MARINE & FIRE INSURANCE CO.,LTD plans to deploy additional support personnel and tow trucks to the nearby Tongyeong area, which was also affected by the recent heavy rains.
