( TONGYANG(001520)), a KOSPI-listed affiliate of the Eugene Group, has completed the procurement of core infrastructure equipment for the “Bucheon Samjeong AI Hub Center”—an artificial intelligence data center (AIDC) currently under construction in Samjeong-dong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province—and is now moving full steam ahead with the development project.
TONGYANG announced on the 26th that it has completed the procurement of five key infrastructure equipment (LLE) items for the Bucheon Samjeong AI Hub Center and has begun manufacturing. The Bucheon Samjeong AI Hub Center is the first project in TONGYANG’s AIDC development initiative, which the company is pursuing as a new business venture.
The equipment ordered this time includes five items: diesel generators, power distribution panels, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and batteries, chillers, and coil wall units (CWU) and computer room air handlers (CRAH).
The company plans to sequentially carry out related procedures, such as the installation of major equipment and performance certification, with the goal of completing construction by July 2028.
TONGYANG is leveraging the technical expertise and supply capabilities it has accumulated through its existing ready-mix concrete, building materials, and construction businesses to support the AIDC development project. The company’s strategy is to expand its business scope from material supply to construction, infrastructure development, and real estate development, thereby enhancing synergies between its existing and new businesses.
In particular, the company plans to meet the demand for the construction of high-value-added facilities—including AI data centers—by leveraging its building materials technologies, such as CarbonCure technology, which it was the first in the domestic ready-mix concrete industry to adopt.
The company expects that the expansion of data center construction driven by the growth of the AI industry will also create new demand for its existing businesses. The plan is to broaden the customer base for its ready-mix concrete and building materials businesses through AIDC development, while simultaneously expanding its business scope into the development and infrastructure sectors.
TONGYANG plans to continuously expand its digital infrastructure development projects, starting with the Bucheon Samjeong AI Hub Center, to establish a foundation for mid- to long-term growth.
A TONGYANG official stated, “The Bucheon Samjeong AIDC project has completed the procurement of core infrastructure equipment and has entered the full-scale implementation phase,” adding, “We will combine our existing ready-mix concrete and building materials technologies with our construction and infrastructure capabilities in the AIDC development project to enhance synergies across our businesses and foster the AIDC business as a new growth engine.”
