[Edaily Reporter KYUNG GYEYOUNG ] The retail industry is extending a series of acts of kindness to the Gyeongsang region, which suffered damage from record-breaking torrential rains.
Lotte Group announced on the 28th that it had donated 1 billion won to the Gyeongsang region, including Geoje and Tongyeong in South Gyeongsang Province, and Andong and Uiseong in North Gyeongsang Province. The donation will be made to the National Disaster Relief Association through the Community Chest of Korea and will be used for recovery efforts in the affected areas and to provide relief supplies to displaced residents.
On the 18th, Lotte Mart also delivered approximately 1,500 emergency relief items—including cup noodles, beverages, and energy bars—to the affected areas through its Geoje store.
Lotte isn’t the only one. On the 20th, Gmarket also donated 300 million won through Hope Bridge—the National Disaster Relief Association—to support flood recovery efforts and aid for displaced residents in the South Gyeongsang region. During the Chuseok promotion “Chuseok Big Sale,” which begins on the 31st, the company plans to sell fruits and vegetables whose marketability has been reduced by the heavy rains at discounted prices to support the swift recovery of affected farming households.
Donations of goods are also coming in one after another. On the 19th, Coupang urgently provided 200 sets of “Coupang Hope Boxes” for emergency relief to Geoje City in South Gyeongsang Province. ABC Mart decided to support flood victims in the Geoje area by donating shoes worth a total of 86 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association.

E-MART Co., Ltd. donated a total of about 5,000 relief items—including water, beverages, and snacks—to the Tongyeong area, enough to serve approximately 1,000 people.
Paldo Gam, a farm-to-table food e-commerce platform operated by Rapo Labs, launched a “Special Campaign for Mutual Prosperity to Support Farmers in Flood-Affected Areas” to promote the consumption of agricultural and marine products from the Geoje and South Gyeongsang regions.
