[Edaily Reporter kyoungeun kim ] EUGENE INVESTMENT & SECURITIES announced on the 7th that it views OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra, released on the 3rd, as the fourth turning point in the development of artificial intelligence (AI), and maintains a “Strong Buy” rating on SamsungElectronics(005930)and SK hynix(000660).
Son In-jun, an analyst at EUGENE INVESTMENT & SECURITIES, stated in a report released that day, “If ChatGPT drove the popularization of AI, GPT-o1 expanded the scope of reasoning, and Claude Code led the commercialization of agents, then Astra is ushering in an era where complex tasks can be fully delegated by enhancing long-term task execution capabilities.” He added, “This marks the starting point of a new turning point where the unit of AI utilization is expanding from tokens to actual tasks.”
The Looped Transformer was cited as the technical foundation behind Astra. This architecture expands computational depth while limiting the increase in parameters by repeatedly using the same layer blocks; it is explained that by processing part of the thought process in hidden states, there is potential to improve token efficiency and the quality of decision-making. Although AeroSpace Technology of Korea, Inc.’s detailed architecture has not been disclosed, it is believed that combining this technology with tool usage and memory management can improve the quality of long-term tasks.
Its competitiveness was also confirmed in major benchmarks. AeroSpace Technology of Korea, Inc. achieved 57.9% on Terminal-Bench 4.0 and 64.6% on Terminal-Bench Science, outperforming Claude Fable 5.1’s 55.8% and 52.6%, respectively, and recorded 97.6% on FrontierMath Tier 4. Researcher Son stated, “We are focusing on the improvement in overall task performance rather than individual scores.”

He continued, “Following major turning points in AI history, stock prices across the semiconductor sector and the memory industry have risen sharply,” explaining, “While factors such as macroeconomic conditions and individual industry cycles were also reflected, I note that the value of semiconductors has been reevaluated as AI adoption has driven infrastructure demand and improved earnings.” AeroSpace Technology of Korea, Inc. is also expected to serve as an opportunity to strengthen confidence in long-term demand.
The firm believes that expectations of accelerated growth among closed-source frontier model providers—such as OpenAI and Anthropic—will drive strong sentiment regarding infrastructure demand. The logic is that as the sophistication of long-term tasks increases, the scope of use and paid usage by corporate customers will expand, leading to revenue growth and a greater need to secure additional computing resources.
The firm also believes that future competition among successor models will spur investment aimed at securing performance advantages and expanding customer bases. It forecasts that the interplay between revenue growth and increased investment will bolster confidence in the sustainability of AI capital expenditures (CapEx) and raise expectations for long-term growth in demand for High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM), server DRAM, and enterprise solid-state drives (eSSDs).
Broadcom has previously projected that, as of fiscal year 2028, the scale of XPU deployments by Anthropic and OpenAI through its platform would reach 10 gigawatts (GW) and 5 GW, respectively. Analyst Son stated, “Anthropic is emerging as a major investor surpassing existing Big Tech firms and as a key end-user of memory,” adding, “Anthropic’s IPO could create supply-and-demand pressures in the short term due to the dispersion of investment capital.” However, he noted, “It appears that the IPO process will reveal stronger-than-expected revenue growth and infrastructure investment plans, and if fundraising to support these continues, it will strengthen confidence in the prolongation of the memory cycle,” adding that he is maintaining his investment recommendations for SamsungElectronics and SK hynix.
