Chairman Koo Kwang-mo emphasized, “Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer an area where we can respond selectively; it is a core pillar that will determine our future competitiveness.” He urged LG Corp.’s executive team, “Please ensure we have the speed and tenacious execution needed to win in the future battle for AI.”

LG Corp. reported on the 17th that Chairman Koo made these remarks during an LG Group executive meeting held on the 16th at the LG Inhwa Institute in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.

Chairman Koo believes that the future of LG Corp. hinges on AX (AI Transformation). He identified the ABC businesses (AI, Bio, and CleanTech) as the Corp.’s future growth engines and is staking the Corp.’s future competitiveness on AX as a strategic response.

At this executive meeting, participants discussed plans to “refine investment strategies” in response to shifts in industrial and technological paradigms in the AI era.

The meeting was attended by approximately 40 top executives from major affiliates, including Chairman Koo and representatives from △LGELECTRONICS △LG Display △LG Innotek △LGCHEM,LTD △LG Energy Solution △LG Uplus. They reviewed the industrial and technological landscape being reshaped by AI and engaged in about eight hours of intense debate and discussion regarding investment directions and implementation plans to secure future competitiveness.

The executive team reviewed existing investment performance and strategies, focusing on key AI battlegrounds such as AI factories, physical AI, semiconductors (materials and substrates), and AX. They determined that it is crucial to set investment directions based on clear objectives and portfolio strategies. Furthermore, they agreed on the need to refine various scenarios and validation processes in response to changes in the market, competition, and technology to enhance the quality of decision-making.

They also agreed to strengthen their execution capabilities by identifying investment opportunities in a timely manner even in a fast-paced and highly uncertain environment, and by boldly concentrating resources and capabilities in necessary areas.

In particular, they discussed the recent debate surrounding the pace of AI investment and development. The executive team agreed that LG Corp.’s AI initiatives should not focus on the technology itself, but rather on people, and should be driven in a direction that enhances the practical value of people’s lives.
