[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] LGELECTRONICS employees shared the warmth of the holiday by preparing Chuseok meals with people with disabilities using funds raised by reducing the number of side dishes served in the employee cafeteria.

(Photo courtesy of LGELECTRONICS) LGELECTRONICS announced on the 17th that its “Life’s Good” Volunteer Corps, composed of employees, conducted a Chuseok volunteer activity on the 15th at the Yeomri Day Care Center for People with Disabilities in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The volunteer group prepared holiday foods by making songpyeon rice cakes and frying jeon (Korean pancakes) together with the center’s clients. They also presented pre-prepared rice cakes as gifts and spent time interacting with the clients while playing yutnori.
The Yeomri Day Care Center for People with Disabilities is a welfare facility for people with severe cerebral palsy operated by the Korea Social Welfare Society. The LGELECTRONICS “Life’s Good” Volunteer Corps has been carrying out activities for vulnerable groups in partnership with the Korea Social Welfare Society since 2014.

(Photo courtesy of LGELECTRONICS) Funds raised through the “Donation Menu” program at the LGELECTRONICS employee cafeteria were used for this volunteer activity. The Donation Menu is an employee-participation donation program that simplifies the number of side dishes compared to the regular menu and allocates the savings as donations. Since its introduction in 2011, cumulative donations have approached 300 million won.
LGELECTRONICS also offers volunteer leave on weekdays, up to eight hours per year, to support employee participation in volunteer activities. Since the program’s introduction in 2013, employees have taken a cumulative total of over 40,000 hours of volunteer leave.
