[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] SamsungElectronics(005930)has unveiled an educational solution that incorporates feedback from approximately 500 teachers. The company has enhanced the management features for Galaxy devices in the classroom, allowing teachers to monitor students’ tablet and PC usage in real time and restrict access to only necessary apps.

SamsungElectronics announced on the 17th the launch of “Galaxy Classroom,” a solution that supports schools from the initial adoption of Galaxy devices through their management and utilization.

Galaxy Classroom is an educational package that combines “Knox Classroom”—a management solution for tablets and PCs used in classroom instruction—with “Knox Configure,” a solution for customizing user environments, and complimentary service benefits.

At its core is the newly introduced “Knox Classroom.” Teachers can view the screens of tablets and PCs used by up to 60 students in real time from a PC or interactive whiteboard. If a student is having difficulty keeping up with the lesson, the teacher can remotely access that device to help resolve the issue.

It also offers the ability to remotely launch apps needed for class on student devices or to lock devices to allow only specific apps to be used. If necessary, teachers can mute a specific student’s device or lock the screen or the entire device.

During group activities, student devices can be grouped and managed by class. The platform also supports features such as sharing the presenter’s screen with other students’ devices, a timer, class participation codes, and a bulletin board for announcements.

Approximately 500 current elementary, middle, and high school teachers participated in the development of Knox Classroom from the initial planning stage. SamsungElectronics explained that it incorporated features needed in real-world educational settings and prioritized ease of use into the product.

Starting next January, the platform will also support integration with Google Education accounts. Schools that already use Google accounts will be able to use Knox Classroom without having to create separate accounts.

It also provides “Nox Configure,” which allows schools to configure devices in bulk. Schools can install educational applications on tablets in bulk or set the devices to automatically launch school-designated apps upon startup. Nox Configure is not available on PCs.

SamsungElectronics is also extending the free service period for tablets and PCs purchased through Galaxy Classroom by at least one year compared to previous offerings. Tablets will come with a two-year free service period, while PCs will have a one-year free service period.

SamsungElectronics plans to enter the public education tablet and PC procurement market based on Galaxy Classroom starting in the second half of this year. It will also expand the use of Galaxy devices in classrooms through the “Galaxy Teacher Lab,” which consists of approximately 1,100 teachers interested in utilizing Galaxy devices and Galaxy AI.

Jeong Ho-jin, Executive Vice President of SamsungElectronics Korea, said, “Galaxy Classroom was designed to enhance classroom engagement by incorporating feedback from actual teachers,” adding, “We expect teachers and students to be able to focus on creative activities using Galaxy devices.”
