[Edaily Reporter Kim Seung-kwon ] Medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Lunit Inc.(328130)has been named in the “Diagnostics” category of “The World’s Top HealthTech Companies of 2026,” a list compiled by the U.S. newsweekly TIME. Observers note that the company’s business structure—in which 95% of its revenue is generated overseas—has been recognized in global evaluation metrics.
Lunit Inc. announced this news on the 18th. TIME had previously released a list of 500 companies on the 16th (local time), selected in collaboration with the global data analytics firm Statista.
◇Financial Performance Accounts for 50% of Scoring… “Revenue Structure” Plays a Major Role in Evaluation
Time and Statista launched this survey for the first time last year. Last year, 400 companies were selected, and this year, the scope expanded to 500 companies across some 30 countries. The evaluation categories include six areas: △AI and Data Analytics △Diagnostics △Health Information and Management △Medical Devices and Wearables △Prevention △Telemedicine and Treatment.
A key point to note is the scoring weighting. The evaluation is based on three pillars—financial performance, reputation analysis, and online engagement—with financial performance, which considers metrics such as revenue per employee and the scale of fundraising, accounting for 50% of the total score. Reputation—analyzed using social listening techniques to monitor news, blogs, and social media—accounts for 30%, while online engagement, measured by website traffic, accounts for 20%. This structure effectively places a higher weight on actual business performance than on brand awareness.
Time also categorizes the selected companies into three tiers: “Outstanding,” “Very High,” and “High.” The specific tier assigned to Lunit Inc. was not disclosed.
The Diagnostics category encompasses digital solutions that support the assessment and diagnosis of diseases, including medical image analysis and monitoring for early disease detection. Last year, NEUROPHET Inc. was the only South Korean company included in the Diagnostics category on the list. At that time, among the eight South Korean companies, Kakao Healthcare, Senacl Soft, and ezCaretech Co., LTD were selected in the Health Information and Management category, while AITRIX and Medipixel were selected in the AI and Data Analysis category.

95% of Revenue Came from Overseas in the First Half… “Global Revenue Was the Basis for Evaluation”
In an evaluation where financial performance accounts for half of the total score, Lunit Inc.’s overseas performance was a key factor in its selection. Lunit Inc.’s consolidated revenue for the first half of this year reached 45.766 billion won, a 23% increase from the same period last year (37.077 billion won), marking its highest first-half revenue on record. By region, overseas revenue totaled 43.433 billion won and domestic revenue 2.333 billion won, with overseas revenue accounting for 95% of the total. During the same period, the operating loss was 29 billion won, a 31% decrease from the same period last year (41.9 billion won).
Looking at the first quarter alone, overseas revenue accounted for 97% of the total, and the Cancer Screening division generated 21.255 billion won, representing 88.7% of total revenue. This is also the reason behind the company’s selection in the “Diagnostics” category.
The company has also completed a reorganization of its sales channels. Lunit Inc. renamed the New Zealand headquarters of Volpara Health Technologies—which it acquired last year—to “Lunit International,” and renamed its U.S. subsidiary, Volpara Health, which handled North American operations, to “Lunit America.” It then transferred global sales personnel from its headquarters to these two subsidiaries. In addition, the company is pursuing partnerships with global medical device manufacturers—including GE Healthcare, Philips, and Fujifilm—to pre-install “Lunit Inc. Insight” on their equipment. Lunit Inc.’s AI solutions are currently being used in more than 10,000 medical institutions across some 70 countries worldwide, supporting everything from cancer diagnosis to treatment.
Regarding this selection, Seo Beom-seok, CEO of Lunit Inc., stated, “This achievement demonstrates the business competitiveness and trust that Lunit Inc. has built up in the global healthcare sector over the years,” adding, “We will continue to strive to ensure that more medical professionals and patients can benefit from medical innovation through AI.”
