[Edaily Reporter An Yu-ri ] Kakao Games Corp.(293490)officially launched “The World of Dokkaebi,” a 2.5D massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Supercat, on the 8th.

“The World of Dokkaebi” is a game based on the intellectual property (IP) of the Naver web novel and webtoon “The Battle Against Demons.” It is characterized by a design that combines pixel-art characters with three-dimensional backgrounds. By applying a hybrid visual style that blends 2D pixel-art characters with 3D backgrounds, the game simultaneously achieves a retro aesthetic and a sense of three-dimensional space, while completing its world-building with pixel art that captures traditional Korean sensibilities.

“The World of Goblins” is drawing attention as it launches amid fierce competition in the domestic gaming market, where a series of new MMORPGs have been released in the second half of the year.

User interest was intense, as evidenced by the early closure of the pre-launch character name reservation event. The first round of character name reservation, which began at 8:00 PM on September 22, closed early—just about an hour after it started. The second round, which began at 11:00 AM on September 23, also saw rapid user participation and ended in about five hours. Kakao Games Corp. added additional servers to ensure smooth participation for users.

Kakao Games Corp. is also hosting a daily login event and streaming-related promotions to coincide with the launch. The main reward for the daily login event is the “Hero’s Blessing Selection Box.” A “Drops” event is also underway, where users can receive in-game coupons by watching game streams on Chijijik and SOOP for a specified duration.

Partnership promotions have also been arranged, including Google Play Games discounts, Google Play Points boosters, and kakaopay point rebates. Payment discounts are available for KTCorporation and LG Uplus users. Events related to Google Gift Codes and Culture Cash are also being held.
