[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] #3ALogics. Inc., a near-field communication (NFC) semiconductor design company, announced on the 12th that its battery-less NFC locking solution, “VOLTEND,” has been selected as a finalist for the “2026 NFC Forum Innovation Awards,” organized by the NFC Forum, an international NFC standardization body. This marks the first time a South Korean company has received this award.

The NFC Forum announced the winners—including 3ALogics. Inc.—at a global member meeting held in Lisbon, Portugal, on the 7th (local time). German premium home appliance manufacturer Miele, Indian automotive electronics technology company Spark Minda, German NFC solutions provider NFC21 GmbH, and agricultural and livestock information management solutions provider QR Cattle were also named among the winners.
The NFC Forum is an international standards organization whose board members include major global technology companies such as Apple, Google, Sony, NXP, and Infineon. It leads the development of NFC technology standards and ensures interoperability.
The NFC Forum Innovation Awards is an international awards program that recognizes products and services that utilize NFC technology to create new user experiences and deliver tangible value. This year, more than 30 products and solutions from around the world were submitted. After review by a panel of NFC technology experts, 10 products were shortlisted, and five winners were selected through a public vote by the global NFC community.
VOLTEND, the award-winning product from 3ALogics. Inc., is an industrial safety lockout solution that operates solely on the NFC radio frequency (RF) energy from a smartphone, without requiring a separate battery. It is used in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to prevent equipment from operating unexpectedly during industrial facility inspections and maintenance.
The NFC Forum recognized that VOLTEND innovatively utilizes contactless tap technology to power the lock using the RF field generated by a smartphone. It explained that the product is not only easy to use but also supports secure access control by generating and managing verifiable digital records of users who access the lock.
The core technology is the “TNB133M” NFC chip, developed in-house by 3ALogics. Inc. This chip supports energy harvesting technology that collects RF energy from smartphones and converts it into electricity. This enables the lock to operate without a separate battery or external power source. Another key feature is its ability to digitize access permissions and operational history, unlike traditional physical key systems.
3ALogics. Inc explained that this award signifies the successful implementation of its proprietary NFC semiconductor design technology into industrial safety solutions and recognition of its technological innovation in the global market. By translating its proprietary semiconductor technology into applied products, the company has demonstrated the industrial applicability and business scalability of NFC technology.
A representative from 3ALogics. Inc stated, “It is meaningful that 3ALogics. Inc’s proprietary NFC semiconductor technology has been recognized on the international stage alongside innovative products from global companies,” adding, “We plan to continue introducing differentiated NFC application solutions based on our proprietary technology and expand VOLTEND’s presence in the global industrial safety and facility management markets.”
