[Edaily Reporter Kang Min-koo ] kakaopay(377300)is launching a “Retroactive Membership Points Accrual” service that allows users to review their payment history and accrue membership points later that they missed at the time of payment.
This service allows users to retroactively earn points they missed at the time of payment, based on transaction history linked to MyData. As its first partnership, kakaopay has teamed up with CU Membership. Users who have linked their MyData accounts can earn CU Membership points later—even if they paid at a CU convenience store using a credit or debit card or other payment methods besides kakaopay Money—as long as their payment history is verified. This means users can still claim the benefits at any time, provided they meet the conditions, even if they forgot to earn points at the time of purchase.

Kakaopay is currently in discussions with membership brands across various industries and plans to gradually expand its network of partners so that users can claim missed points at more locations.
kakaopay is expanding the scope of MyData beyond simply viewing financial information to provide tangible, everyday benefits for users. In particular, as it boasts over 22 million MyData subscribers—the largest number in South Korea—this service is expected to offer a wide range of user benefits and high versatility.
Additionally, the service has enhanced convenience by sending notifications via KakaoTalk messages when points from partner companies are available for accumulation, allowing users to immediately check their benefits without having to search for them individually.
The “Post-Purchase Membership Points Accrual” service can be used after signing up for kakaopay MyData and linking your CU Membership via the “Membership” tab in the kakaopay app or on the kakaopay Home screen within KakaoTalk.
kakaopay stated, “This service was designed to help users access benefits that are easy to overlook at the moment of payment, regardless of the payment method,” adding, “By leveraging Korea’s largest MyData user base and the convenience of KakaoTalk, we will continue to create innovative payment experiences that automatically identify even the benefits users might otherwise miss in their daily lives.”
