[Edaily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] Inventage Lab Inc.(389470)has received a decision to grant a U.S. patent for its veterinary chemical castration technology, designed to provide 12 months of efficacy with a single dose. The product is being jointly developed with a global veterinary pharmaceutical company, and the company plans to use this patent decision as an opportunity to finalize the selection of manufacturing facilities for commercial production and to advance discussions on technology transfer.

Inventage Lab Inc. announced on the 14th that it has received a decision granting a U.S. patent for its 12-month sustained-release peptide injection technology applied to veterinary chemical castration agents.

This technology involves an injectable formulation designed to release gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists over an extended period. GnRH agonists suppress the secretion of sex hormones when administered continuously, enabling chemical castration—the suppression of reproductive function—without surgery.

Inventage Lab Inc. is jointly pursuing this project with a global animal health company that has experience developing and commercializing non-surgical sterilization products for companion animals. The partner company has experience in the development, approval, and sale of products utilizing the same active ingredient. However, the company did not disclose the partner’s specific name or the terms of the agreement.

With this patent registration decision, Inventage Lab Inc. has taken another step toward securing rights in the U.S. for its long-acting peptide formulation technology. The U.S. is one of the world’s largest pet pharmaceutical markets, and securing patent rights could serve as a crucial foundation for future product commercialization and technology transfer. However, the patent registration decision does not guarantee product approval or commercial success.

Inventage Lab Inc. is developing formulation technology that extends the dosing intervals for peptide drugs to 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months by utilizing its existing long-acting drug delivery platform, “IVL-DrugFluidic.” The core of this technology is designing the drug to be released slowly within the body, thereby reducing the burden associated with repeated dosing.

In particular, the company is independently designing and developing not only the drug formulations but also the manufacturing equipment and processes required for their production. While typical formulation technology transfers focus on providing the drug composition and manufacturing methods, Inventage Lab Inc. is pursuing a business model that transfers formulation, equipment, and process technologies as a single package.

Through this approach, the company plans to support partners in scaling up manufacturing processes to fit their production environments and establishing commercial production systems. Should actual technology transfer agreements be signed in the future, the company expects to secure additional revenue not only from formulation technology but also from manufacturing equipment and process technology.

Currently, Inventage Lab Inc. is discussing the selection of manufacturing facilities responsible for commercial production and the transfer of manufacturing platform technology with its joint development partners. Recently, the company held on-site meetings with partners based in Europe to discuss the transfer of the manufacturing platform and the feasibility of local production.

A company official stated, “We have recently held in-depth discussions with European partners regarding the technology transfer of the manufacturing platform and the feasibility of local production,” adding, “If this collaboration leads to a contract, we expect to secure not only revenue from technology transfer related to formulation development but also additional revenue streams from the transfer of manufacturing equipment and process technology.”

The spokesperson added, “Based on our capability to comprehensively design and develop not only dosage forms but also our own manufacturing equipment and processes, we will expand our package technology transfer model and generate tangible commercialization results through collaboration with global partners.”
