[Edaily Reporter SOYEON KIM ] SamsungElectronics is expanding its collaboration with global telecommunications industry partners on next-generation network technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI). The company will discuss the future direction of telecommunications networks that combine AI and 6G technologies and will also unveil the results of core 6G technologies jointly developed with global partners.

SamsungElectronics announced that it will host an event in Mountain View, Silicon Valley, from the 14th to the 15th (local time), with participation from global telecommunications industry partners. “Partner Day” was held on the 14th, and the “Silicon Valley Future Telecommunications Summit 2026” will take place on the 15th.

Approximately 100 telecommunications experts, including representatives from major mobile carriers, manufacturers, government agencies, and academia, will attend the event. They will discuss the evolution of software-defined networks in the era of AI and 6G, as well as ways to foster ecosystem collaboration to create new value in the telecommunications industry.

At the Partner Day event held on the 14th, changes in the telecommunications industry driven by the proliferation of AI and next-generation network strategies were the main topics of discussion. In its keynote speech, SamsungElectronics noted that AI is driving changes across the entire telecommunications infrastructure, extending beyond applications and services. In particular, the company predicted that as the telecommunications network structure—which has remained largely unchanged for over 100 years—is being reorganized around AI, next-generation networks combining AI and virtualization technologies will become a key growth driver.

In the subsequent panel discussion, telecom operators shared the requirements and blueprints for future AI-based networks, while manufacturers discussed collaboration strategies based on their experience commercializing AI and virtualized networks. Participants also explored ways to go beyond existing connectivity services to identify new network-based services and turn them into business opportunities.

Park Jeong-ho, Executive Vice President and Head of the Strategic Marketing Team at SamsungElectronics’ Network Business Division, stated, “Networks in the AI era are evolving into intelligent infrastructure based on virtualization, capable of interpreting the diverse demands of a flood of new services.” He added, “SamsungElectronics will work with global partners to integrate AI technology and develop telecommunications infrastructure into a new engine of growth.”

The “Silicon Valley Future Communications Summit 2026” featured a total of three sessions: △ AI-embedded 6G networks, △ expansion of 6G coverage via satellite communications, and △ hyper-connectivity bridging the real and virtual worlds.

The session on AI-embedded 6G networks will discuss ways to improve network performance and operational efficiency using AI. The satellite communications session will cover the future direction and technical challenges of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications, as well as the satellite communications standards and roadmap currently under discussion by 3GPP, the international mobile communications standardization body. The hyper-connectivity session will explore the potential for new services that connect the physical world with digital services by leveraging the convergence of communications and sensing (ISAC) and physical AI.

At the event, the company will also unveil core 6G technologies jointly developed and validated with global partners. The company plans to demonstrate next-generation communication technologies, including “AI RAN (AI-embedded wireless access network),” which applies AI technology to the radio access network, as well as △ high-density multiple-input multiple-output (X-MIMO) communication systems, △ distributed multiple-input multiple-output (D-MIMO) communication systems, and △ communication-sensing convergence (ISAC).

The company will present results verifying communication performance achieved by applying AI across all layers of the Radio Access Network (RAN), as well as transmission performance in the 7 GHz band—a candidate frequency for 6G. It also plans to showcase the perceived communication performance for users at cell boundaries and sensing performance utilizing base station infrastructure.

SamsungElectronics is also expanding its 6G technology collaboration with global mobile carriers and research institutions. This year, the company began collaborating with LG Uplus to develop integrated communication and sensing technologies, and conducted field trials with U.S. carrier Verizon at a major global sporting event held in Dallas. In addition, it is strengthening research collaboration with major domestic and international telecom operators, including SoftBank, NTT DoCoMo, KDDI Research, KTCorporation, and SKTelecom.

Jeong Jin-guk, Executive Vice President and Head of the Next-Generation Communications Research Center at SamsungElectronics Research, said, “Through close collaboration with partners in the telecommunications industry, SamsungElectronics is leading the development of core network technologies that will bring 6G to fruition.” He added, “We will pool our capabilities in cutting-edge research to advance next-generation communications technology for the benefit of both telecom carriers and users.”
