“Paradise Lost” is a psychological thriller that begins when Ryu Seon-woo (played by Bae Hyun-sung)—whom his mother Ryu So-young (played by Kim Hyun-joo) had believed to be dead after losing him in a camping school bus disappearance nine years ago—miraculously returns alive.
“Lost Paradise” continues its global journey with an official invitation to the “Special Korean Film Showcase” section of the 46th Hawaii International Film Festival.
The Hawaii International Film Festival is a festival that has fostered cultural exchange between Eastern and Western cinema by introducing diverse films from around the world, including the Asia-Pacific region. This year’s festival will be held throughout Hawaii from October 21 to November 15. “Paradise Lost” will screen in Hawaii on November 1 and 4, marking its U.S. premiere—the film’s first public showing for American audiences.
Previously, “Paradise Lost” was invited to the Special Presentations section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, where all four official screenings—totaling approximately 2,300 seats—sold out. Subsequently, all four screenings in the Gala Presentations section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival also sold out, proving the film’s popularity both domestically and internationally.
CJ ENM has served as a bridge connecting Korean stories to global markets and audiences, leveraging the global network and expertise it has accumulated through leading the overseas sales and distribution of various Korean films.
A representative from CJ ENM’s overseas distribution team stated, “‘Paradise Lost’ features a unique premise while deeply exploring universal themes of family and motherhood, resonating with audiences across nationalities and cultures and generating significant interest in overseas markets.”
