[Edaily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] BTGen will participate in a domestic biotech industry exhibition to secure global contract manufacturing organization (CMO) clients.

Bitizen announced on the 21st that it will participate in “Bio Plus Co., Ltd.-Interphex Korea 2026 (BIX 2026),” which will be held at COEX in Seoul from the 28th to the 30th.

Organized by the Korea Bio Association, BIX is an event where domestic and international pharmaceutical and biotech companies, research institutions, and investment firms gather to share technology trends and discuss business collaborations. Bitigen has participated in the event for four consecutive years since 2023. This year, the company will participate as a Gold Sponsor and plans to hold partnering meetings with potential domestic and international clients in a dedicated meeting space within its standalone booth.

At this exhibition, the company will focus on showcasing its production experience—gained through compliance with the quality standards of global regulatory agencies—and its plans for facility expansion. Bitigen explained that it has secured a total of 17 certifications for Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) in relation to global regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA).

BTGen is a subsidiary specializing in biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing (CMO), in which Dong-A Socio Holdings(000640)holds approximately an 80% stake, and is responsible for the Dong-A Socio Group’s biopharmaceutical production and global contract manufacturing operations. The company is in charge of producing “Imuldos,” a biosimilar of “Stelara,” an autoimmune disease treatment developed by Donga ST(170900), and changed its name from STGenBio to BTGen last May. Most recently, in August, the company signed a CMO contract worth 13.66 billion won with a global pharmaceutical company, and earlier in March, it signed a commercial production contract for “Ilux-B,” a biosimilar of Alteogen Inc.’s Eylea.

Buoyed by these successive CMO contracts, the company is also moving forward with plans to expand its production capacity. Bitigen plans to expand Plant 1, its active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production facility, increasing its current culture scale from 9,000 liters to 14,000 liters—an expansion of approximately 56%—starting in 2028.

The company will also introduce a new isolator-type filling line at its finished drug product manufacturing facility. This equipment, capable of filling up to 24,000 units per hour, is scheduled to begin operations in 2029. Through this initiative, the company aims to strengthen its production infrastructure to provide end-to-end capabilities, from API production to the filling of finished drug products such as prefilled syringes (PFS).

BTGen participated in events such as Interphex Week Tokyo in Japan and the Bio International Convention in the U.S. this year, and is continuing to expand its engagement with overseas clients by participating in global events such as CPHI Milan and BioJapan this month.

A BTGen official stated, “Based on our production capabilities that meet the quality standards of global regulatory agencies and our continuous investment in facilities, we are responding to the diverse needs of our clients,” adding, “At this year’s BIX 2026, we will also expand opportunities for collaboration with potential domestic and international clients and enhance our competitiveness in the global CMO market.”
