[Edaily Reporter Han Kwangbeom ] The number of subscribers to SamsungElectronics(005930)’s mobile payment service, “Samsung Wallet Money & Points,” has surpassed 3 million just one year after its launch.
SamsungElectronics announced on the 22nd that “Samsung Wallet Money & Points” surpassed 3 million subscribers one year after its launch last October, having reached 1 million subscribers just two months after its launch.
Samsung Wallet Money & Points is a rechargeable mobile payment service integrated into Samsung Wallet. Users can top up their “Money” balance to make payments and earn “Points.”
SamsungElectronics cited the ability to earn points without restrictions based on previous month’s spending or accumulation limits, as well as the service’s acceptance at all domestic partner merchants, as key factors behind the subscriber growth. Another key feature is that points earned during a transaction can be used immediately like cash for the next payment.
To mark the first anniversary of its launch, the company has also expanded its features. Starting on the 20th, SamsungElectronics is sequentially rolling out a points tier system and support for international payments to the app.
Point tiers are divided into four levels—Solar, Lunar, Sky, and Young—based on annual cumulative points. The Young tier, for users aged 14 to 29, offers an additional 3% points on payments. Customers in the Solar and Lunar tiers receive benefits such as discount coupons for gifting and additional instant-win entry tickets when making payments with Money.
Fourteen new mini-games are also being added to the “Benefits” tab within the Samsung Wallet app. Users can earn points by participating in these games.
SamsungElectronics will also hold a first-anniversary event starting on the 27th. Users who make their first payment with Samsung Wallet Money will receive 5,000 points, and prizes such as the “Galaxy Z Fold 8” will be awarded through a drawing. Customers who make payments with Samsung Wallet Money while abroad will receive an additional 2.5% in points.
“Young” tier customers will receive 2,000 points for making a single payment with the Toss Youth Card or KakaoBank Corp. mini Card via Samsung Wallet.
Chae Won-cheol, Vice President and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at SamsungElectronics’ MX Business Division, stated, “Adding tangible value to customers’ daily lives is the direction Samsung Wallet is heading,” adding, “We will continue to expand the Samsung Wallet ecosystem across various lifestyle touchpoints both domestically and internationally, and consistently enhance the benefits that customers can experience in their daily lives.”
