[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah ] KT Cloud is building a 50MW Ansan artificial intelligence (AI) data center. KT Cloud plans to meet the demand for high-density AI servers by leveraging its experience in building and operating existing data centers and its AI infrastructure technology.
KTCorporation announced on the 22nd that it will break ground on the Ansan AI data center. The Ansan data center will have a total floor area of approximately 36,878 square meters, comprising two basement levels and nine above-ground floors. It will have a total power capacity of 50 MW, with completion targeted for 2029.

Furthermore, this is not KTCorporation’s first AI data center. KTCorporation currently operates the Baekseok AI Data Center and has been expanding its liquid-cooling infrastructure at the Gasan AI Data Center—which opened last year—to accommodate high-heat-generating AI servers. The Ansan project is intended to increase the supply capacity of AI data centers in the Seoul metropolitan area, building on existing facilities.
The Ansan data center will be equipped with power infrastructure capable of reliably supplying electricity to high-density AI servers. All server rooms will be designed to support liquid cooling, and the structure will be built to withstand the weight of server equipment, taking into account the introduction of high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs) such as NVIDIA’s next-generation AI chip, “Vera Rubin.”
To improve cooling efficiency, a free-cooling system that utilizes low outdoor temperatures will also be implemented. This method reduces the operational load on chillers and cooling towers by using outdoor air during the transitional seasons and winter for cooling.
Goal to Provide 1 GW of AI Data Center Capacity by 2031
Following Gasan and Baekseok, KTCorporation plans to expand its AI data center infrastructure to Bucheon, Daegu, Gunsan, and Yongin. According to the company’s timeline, it aims to begin operations in Bucheon in 2027, Daegu, Gunsan, and Yongin in 2028, and Ansan in 2029. Through these efforts, the company plans to expand its AI data center capacity to 1 GW by 2031.
Kim Bong-kyun, CEO of KT Cloud (Head of KTCorporation’s Enterprise Division), stated, “The Ansan AI data center is a project that incorporates power and cooling infrastructure optimized for high-density AI servers, as well as next-generation design technology.” He added, “Based on our accumulated experience in building and operating data centers and our technical capabilities, we will provide stable and efficient AI infrastructure.”
