Securities analysts predicted that skepticism regarding AI infrastructure investments is rapidly subsiding on the New York Stock Exchange, partly due to news of Anthropic’s planned initial public offering (IPO). They further analyzed that investment sentiment across the entire domestic semiconductor value chain is rapidly improving, as SK hynix has clearly demonstrated robust earnings that exceeded market expectations and a strong commitment to enhancing shareholder value.
Overnight on the New York Stock Exchange, AI investment enthusiasm was reignited by Anthropic’s initial public offering (IPO), causing the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index to surge 308.43 points (1.18%) to close at 26,477.81. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 15.99 points (0.03%) from the previous trading day to close at 52,377.57, while the S&P 500 Index closed at 7,722.60, up 45.83 points (0.60%).
In particular, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index soared by more than 3%, and AI infrastructure stocks, such as CoreWeave, surged by over 7%. Chipmaker Broadcom rose 4.00% to $342.33, memory chipmaker Micron Technology climbed 2.77% to $928.76, and SK hynix American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) closed up 1.92% at $145.36.
Han Ji-young, an analyst at KIWOOM Securities, said, “The domestic stock market rose, buoyed by the strength of U.S. semiconductor stocks driven by positive news from Anthropic and Broadcom, as well as the easing of pressure on interest rates and oil prices due to the calming of tensions in the Middle East,” adding "During the trading session, the momentum of gains is expected to vary across sectors, influenced by SK hynix’s conference call, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting scheduled for early tomorrow morning, and market anticipation of hyperscaler earnings reports," she added.
