[Edaily SOYEON KIM Reporter Choi Oh-hyun] "Our clients’ demand for High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) is more than double the volume we can supply. This is a clear example of demand outpacing supply. Given the shortage of HBM, our clients are adopting a strategy of reducing the number of stacking layers to build more AI accelerators and systems with the limited supply available. Reducing the number of stacking layers increases the number of cubes required and also extends the back-end-of-process (BEOP) time for the base die. Reducing the number of stacking layers does not necessarily result in a decrease in capacity. We have already factored this situation into our production and supply plans. HBM shipment volumes and schedules will proceed without any delays. Profitability is influenced by product-specific terms of trade, product mix, back-end process productivity, and costs, so it is difficult to judge based solely on the number of stacking layers. HBM sales and profits are expected to grow significantly compared to this year, and profitability will also improve meaningfully.” …SK hynix Q3 2026 Conference Call A view of SK hynix’s headquarters in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, on that day.
