[Edaily Reporter LEE DAWON ] SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION’s Construction Division posted an operating profit of 277 billion won in the third quarter of this year, marking a roughly 150% increase compared to the same period last year. Both revenue and operating profit rose significantly as large-scale high-tech construction projects gained momentum and overseas construction projects progressed smoothly. (Photo = Yonhap News) According to the third-quarter 2026 earnings report released by SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION on the 28th, revenue in the construction division reached 4.465 trillion won, an increase of 1.375 trillion won (44.5%) compared to the same period last year (3.09 trillion won).
Operating profit for the same period was 277 billion won, a 149.5% increase from the same period last year (111 billion won), amounting to 166 billion won.
As the growth rate of operating profit rose significantly more than that of revenue, the operating profit margin increased by 2.6 percentage points, from approximately 3.6% in the third quarter of last year to approximately 6.2% in the third quarter of this year.
The improvement in performance was driven by construction projects for semiconductor production facilities. SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION explained that revenue and operating profit increased as construction work on new state-of-the-art industrial facilities—such as SamsungElectronics’ P5 Fab 1 and 2 at the Pyeongtaek semiconductor plant—accelerated, and new projects, including data centers and mixed-use buildings, gained momentum.
By business segment, revenue in the construction division reached 3.185 trillion won, an increase of 1.126 trillion won compared to the same period last year (2.059 trillion won). Revenue in the plant division also rose from 834 billion won to 1.121 trillion won. In contrast, revenue in the civil engineering division decreased from 197 billion won to 159 billion won.
By region, domestic revenue reached 2.17 trillion won, an increase of 863 billion won compared to the same period last year. Overseas revenue also rose by 512 billion won, from 1.783 trillion won to 2.295 trillion won.
New orders also expanded. SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION’s Construction Division recorded 8.827 trillion won in new orders in the third quarter. Cumulative orders for the first three quarters of this year totaled 19.275 trillion won, and the order backlog as of the end of the third quarter stood at 37.743 trillion won.
Major projects secured include the T1 Fab 2 project in the U.S. (2.8 trillion won), the reconstruction of the Eunma Apartments in Daechi-dong, Seoul (2.1 trillion won), the reconstruction of Jamsil Jugong Complex 5 (1.4 trillion won), the structural work for the Pyeongtaek P5 Fab 2 (600 billion won), and the Giheung SDR (400 billion won).
The company also moved to secure construction contracts for urban renewal projects. SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION announced that in the third quarter, it secured construction contracts for residential projects totaling 2.6 trillion won, including the Seongsu District 3 Redevelopment (1.8 trillion won), the Yeouido Mokhwa Apartment Reconstruction (500 billion won), and the Mapo Hangang Samsung Apartment Remodeling (300 billion won).
Reflecting these order wins and future business prospects, SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION raised its construction division order target for this year by 6.6 trillion won, from the previous 23.5 trillion won to 30.1 trillion won. The company forecasts that both annual revenue and order intake will exceed the original targets.
The company plans to continue improving its performance in the fourth quarter. SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION forecasts that revenue and operating profit will increase further as the volume of semiconductor production facility construction projects rises and work on new overseas data center and energy-related projects gains momentum.
The company is also pursuing expansion into new business areas. In September, SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION was selected as a joint development partner for a small modular reactor (SMR) project in Sweden and signed an agreement to invest $200 million in Helix, a U.S.-based data center infrastructure investment firm. The company plans to expand its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) business opportunities in the nuclear power and data center sectors going forward.
Meanwhile, SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION’s consolidated third-quarter revenue totaled 12.008 trillion won, an 18.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit reached 1.143 trillion won, up 15.0% from the same period last year.
