[Edaily Reporter Choi Hee-jae ] Actress Jeon Do-yeon has been nominated for Best Actress at the 36th Gotham Awards.

According to the final list of nominees for the 36th Gotham Awards, released on the 27th (local time), Jeon Do-yeon has been nominated for Best Lead Actress. A total of 10 actors were nominated for Best Lead Actress, including Julianne Moore, Ian McKellen, John Malkovich, and Mahershala Ali.

This marks the third time a Korean actor has been nominated in this category, following Yoon Yeo-jeong for *Minari* and Lee Byung-hun for *I Can’t Help It*.

*Possible Love*, the new film by director Lee Chang-dong starring Jeon Do-yeon, has been nominated in three categories: Best International Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Lead Actor/Actress.

Launched in 1991, the Gotham Awards is a major North American film event that honors American independent films and television series. It is also considered a barometer for predicting the winners of the Academy Awards (Oscars), scheduled to take place next March.

Previously, the U.S. media outlet *The Hollywood Reporter* highlighted Jeon Do-yeon’s performance as Mi-ok in *Possible Love* and mentioned the possibility that she could become the first Korean actress to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress.

“Possible Love” tells the story of a couple—one a laid-off worker and the other from a wealthy family—whose lives become intertwined through the production of a documentary, forcing them to confront their own desires and the cracks in their relationships. Jeon Do-yeon plays Mi-ok, the wife of the laid-off worker, and stars alongside Seol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung, and Jo Yeo-jeong. The film was released in theaters on September 23 and is also set to be released on Netflix.

Following its selection as South Korea’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards, *Possible Love* achieved a series of remarkable accomplishments, becoming the first Korean film to win the Grand Jury Prize (Silver Lion) at the Venice International Film Festival, the TIFF Everett Director’s Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Otter Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival.
