[E-Daily Reporter Kang Min-koo ] CONTEC Co.,Ltd(451760), a South Korean company specializing in space ground stations, has been selected as the preferred bidder for a project worth approximately 5.6 billion won to build a ground station for the Water Resources Communication Satellite, commissioned by the Geumgang River Flood Control Office.

This project involves establishing a ground station system to collect hydrological data—such as water levels and precipitation—and imagery from the Geumgang River basin in real time via a water resources communications satellite. The core objective is to reliably acquire on-site river data using satellites and enhance the operational efficiency of the national flood response system.

The Water Resources Communications Satellite is a critical piece of national infrastructure for transmitting hydrological information from dams and rivers. As the importance of disaster prediction—such as extreme rainfall—has grown due to recent climate change, this project will enable the rapid acquisition of observational data and strengthen flood forecasting capabilities.

Based on its expertise in building satellite ground stations and in data reception and processing, CONTEC Co.,Ltd is expanding its presence in the public infrastructure sector.

With the award of this contract, the company plans to solidify its capabilities in building water resources communication satellite ground station systems and contribute to the advancement of the nation’s hydrological information infrastructure.
